Eugene Facey (Engr ’70 CM) has received the U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award for his exceptional commitment and substantial contributions to the Coast Guard while serving as chairman, vice chairman and a member of the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee from January 2004 to January 2015. Throughout Mr. Facey’s leadership, the committee made an unprecedented number of recommendations that helped the Coast Guard develop and implement regulatory standards and policies on a wide variety of topics.

Eugene Facey (Engr ’70 CM) received the 2014 Exemplary Service Award from the International Association of Drilling Contractors in recognition of his work on the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee, and for his contributions to the drilling industry and the IADC. Mr. Facey has served on the NOSAC since 2003, serving as chair from 2008 until 2014. He retired from Ensco plc, a global provider of offshore drilling services to the petroleum industry, in 2003. Since retiring, Mr. Facey has spent his time volunteering in local and federal government positions, for charities, and as an elementary school mentor. When he’s not traveling, he and his wife, Dianna, reside at their ranch in central Texas.

Eugene “Gene” R. Facey (Engr. ’70 L/M) recently received the 2014 International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Exemplary Service Award. This award recognizes individuals notable for outstanding contributions to the drilling industry and to IADC. Mr. Facey’s recognition was for his work on the United States Coast Guard’s National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) and his contributions to the drilling industry and IADC. Mr. Facey has served on the NOSAC since 2003 and as its Chair from 2008 until 2014 and prior to that as its Vice Chair. Mr. Facey was Corporate Vice President, Engineering when he retired in 2003 from ENSCO plc, a global provider of offshore drilling services to the petroleum industry. His offshore oil and gas career started in 1969 while still at the University. Since his retirement, Mr. Facey has dedicated a large amount of his time to being a volunteer, in both local and federal government positions; for non-profit charities as well as being an elementary school mentor. When not traveling, Mr. Facey and his wife Dianna reside at their ranch in central Texas.
