Rebecca Rovit

Rebecca Rovit (Grad ’85) published The Jewish Kulturbund Theatre Company in Nazi Berlin with the University of Iowa Press. Through primary documents—correspondence between the Berlin Kulturbund’s theatre and the Reich Ministry of Propaganda and Enlightenment; play scripts and role books; production reviews and photographs; letters and memoirs; and interviews with artists who survived World War II—to show how increasingly restrictive German reality forced Jewish artists to define and redefine their identity and culture. Ms. Rovit is an assistant professor of theatre at the University of Kansas.
