Scott Bierman (Grad ’85) is the 11th president of Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. The inauguration was Sept. 25, 2009. An economist with 27 years of teaching and leadership experience in liberal arts education, Mr. Bierman has served as the academic dean of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., since 2005. He joined the faculty at Carleton and was named chair of the economics department in 1991. From 1997 to 2000, he was faculty president, serving as a liaison between faculty and the dean and president on curricular and personnel issues. He also founded and chaired the Carleton Faculty Council. Mr. Bierman and his wife, Melody, live in the historic President’s House on campus. They have two adult daughters.
