Shanti A. Parikh (Com ’90 L/M) was one of 100 St. Louis-area educators honored with an Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. Now in their 27th year, the awards recognize achievements and dedication of educators from kindergarten through college. Ms. Parikh is an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at Washington University in St Louis.

Shanti Parikh (Com ’90 CM) has published her second book, Regulating Romance: Youth Love Letters, Moral Anxiety, and Intervention in Uganda’s Time of AIDS with Vanderbilt University Press. The book draws on 10 years of ethnographic research, 250 interviews and more than 300 youth love letters to provide a window into young people’s heterosexual desires and practices in Uganda. Ms. Parikh is an associate professor of anthropology and African and African-American studies at Washington University in St. Louis.
