Chris Frey (Engr ’85) is on leave from North Carolina State University to serve as Assistant Administrator for Research and Development at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He was nominated for this role by President Biden in January 2022 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in May 2022.  He also serves as the EPA Science Advisor.

Henry Frey (Engr ’85) has been appointed the Glenn. E. Futrell Distinguished University Professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering at North Carolina State University, where he has served on the faculty since 1994. He is also an adjunct professor in the division of environment at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Mr. Frey recently chaired the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee and currently serves on the EPA’s Science Advisory Board.

H. Christopher Frey was appointed by the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to a two year term as Chair of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee. CASAC advises the Administrator on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. He was also appointed to a three year term on the EPA Science Advisory Board.

Henry Frey (Engr ’85) , Distinguished University Professor of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, received the 2012 Lyman A. Ripperton Environmental Educator Award from the Air & Waste Management Association at the association’s annual meeting in San Antonio. The award is given each year to an influential educator in some field of air pollution control.
