Rita Sheffey (Col ’78 CM) has been appointed assistant dean for public service at Emory University, effective January 2015. Previously, Ms. Sheffey was a partner in the Atlanta office of Hunton & Williams, where she worked for 27 years and spearheaded the development of the firm’s pro bono program, including the foundation of the Southside Legal Center, a pro bono clinic that serves area residents.

Rita Sheffey (Col ’78 CM) received the Charles E. Watkins Jr. Award from the Atlanta Bar Association in recognition of her distinguished and sustained service to the association. She was also recently elected secretary of the State Bar of Georgia, a position she will hold from 2013 to 2014. Ms. Sheffey is a partner in the litigation and intellectual property practice of Hunton & Williams, where she serves as director of the firm’s pro bono committee for the Atlanta office.

Rita Sheffey (Col ’78 L/M) was re-elected to serve on the executive committee of the State Bar of Georgia. She has represented the Atlanta Judicial Circuit on the state bar’s board of governors since 2008 and has served on the executive committee since 2011. Ms. Sheffey is a partner with Hunton & Williams in Atlanta, where her law practice focuses on environmental, patent and trademark infringement and product liability litigation. She also maintains an active pro bono practice.
