Dean Hasseman

Dean Hasseman (Darden ’78, Law ’71 CM) has retired after a 42-year career as an attorney serving all aspects of the downstream business of the oil industry. Most recently, he was general counsel and chief compliance officer of Citgo Petroleum Corp., where he worked for 23 years. Before joining Citgo, he worked for Sun Oil Company (Sunoco) and Williams Pipeline Company.

Dean Hasseman (Law ’71 L/M) is general counsel of CITGO Petroleum Corp. He received the 2009 Houston Business Journal/Association of Corporate Counsel Outstanding Counsel with an Attorney Staff of 11-30 Award. He also received the 2009 HBJ/ACC Champion of Diversity Award. This February, he will receive the 2010 Minority Corporate Counsel Association Employer of Choice – South/Southwest Region – award from the CITGO Legal Department.
