Diane Smith Wilkin (Col ’77) was named the 2021 Pennsylvania Art Educator from the National Art Education Association. This award, determined through a peer review of nominations, honors an outstanding member from each state or province association whose service and contribution to art education merits recognition and acclaim. Wilkin worked with the Bristol Township SD for 24 years as a high school art educator and also served her state organization in numerous positions, including president, and most recently completed three years representing 13 states as Eastern Region Vice President for NAEA. The award was presented during the [Virtual] NAEA 2021 National Convention.

Diane Smith “Smitty” Wilkin (Col ’77) became the Eastern Region Vice President of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) which has headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, at the close of the annual National Convention in NYC on March 5th.  Wilkin will serve on the NAEA board for three years representing the 13 states located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.  Wilkin is an art educator at Harry S Truman High School located in Levittown, PA and continues to serve the Pennsylvania Art Education Association as Past-President.

Diane Wilkin (Col ’77) was recently elected president of the Pennsylvania Art Education Association. Previously, she served on the PAEA board as both secondary division director and awards chairperson. Ms. Wilkin is a high school art teacher in the Bristol Township School District in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where she instructs students in studio and critical design thinking through crafts and design, sculpture, general arts and both digital and film photography. She exhibits her own creative work and serves as a board member for the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Association in Philadelphia.
