Deborah Sheetenhelm Hammond (Arch ’82 CM) has released her 26th novel, The Very Thought of You. It follows the cases of FBI Agent John McIver, who is pulled from his customary undercover work to oversee the stalking investigation of a famous actress, Charlotte Meadows. Chased across two continents, the stalker seeks to overturn Charlotte’s life and end John’s. Deborah E. Sheetenhelm Hammond (Arch ’82 CM) published her 24th novel, These Foolish Things. The second in her Someone to Watch Over Me series, the book brings to life the story of Victoria Sloan and Matthew Madison. They met at the wedding of her best friend, Alexandra Wesson and sparks flew. The problem is, Victoria lives in New York City and owns a marketing firm. Matthew lives on a horse farm in rural Virginia and rescues people in peril for a living. Can these two seemingly diverse lives mesh and if they do, will the precarious nature of Matthew’s vocation endanger them both?

A Falling Waters, West Virginia, resident, Hammond was also recently appointed to a four-year term on the West Virginia Broadcasting Foundation Board of Directors. She also serves on the Eastern West Virginia Home Consortium and has worked as a fundraiser for United Way of the Eastern Panhandle for six years.

Deborah E. Sheetenhelm Hammond (Arch ’82 L/M) has published her 20th novel, Both Sides Now. Set in 2019 and 1861, the novel explores the first summer of the Civil War in the town of Martinsburg, West Virginia, then Martinsburg, Virginia. Focusing on the historical facts of that summer, the novel explores the experience from the eyes of a 21st century woman who has time traveled to her own hometown during the first perilous weeks of the war. Deborah Sheetenhelm Hammond (Arch ’82 L/M) announces the release of her fifteenth novel, A Knight’s Errand. Set in contemporary Hagerstown, Maryland, it is the second novel in the Knight series. Deborah Sheetenhelm Hammond (Arch ’82 L/M) announces the release of her thirteenth novel, Monocacy Crossing; a contemporary novel with settings in Frederick, Maryland and the Northern Neck of Virginia. Captain Daniel Wexford, a Confederate soldier crosses over at a re-enactment of the Battle of the Monocacy to complete his journey to return home to his lifelong love, Rebecca Bradford. A contemporary member of his family, Dr. Nicholas Wexford, is a witness to the crossing along with Frederick native Dr. Nora Easterley. Deborah Hammond (Arch ’82 CM) has released the second edition of her ninth novel, In the Eye of the Storm, and her 10th, As Time Goes By. Two of the main characters in As Time Goes By are based on fellow graduates of the University’s class of 1982.

Deborah Hammond (Arch ’82 CM) has published her eighth book, Someone to Watch Over Me. The book is a military romance novel set during the war on terror. Ms. Hammond was a featured author at the 2016 West Virginia Chocolate Fest and Book Faire in Martinsburg.

Deborah Hammond (Arch ’82 CM) recently published her first novel, In the Eye of the Storm. The book chronicles the adventures of a heroine in the post-Civil War era as she travels from her home in Wilmington, N.C., to London for the resolution of her father’s estate. Her mission to obtain her inheritance leads to threats on her life and the lives of others she comes to hold dear. Ms. Hammond worked for 31 years in local government prior to her retirement in March 2014. She currently resides in Falling Waters, W.Va., with her husband, Bill.
