Laura Heim (Arch ’81 L/M) was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in a ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City in June 2018 in recognition of her significant contributions to the field. She founded her firm, Laura Heim Architect, in 2006 and has worked on more than 30 projects in the Sunnyside Gardens Historic District, a 1920’s planned community, establishing and advancing preservation standards while inserting contemporary programs and design into the modest brick homes. Her firm is located in Sunnyside, Queens.

Laura A. Heim (Arch ’81 L/M) was elected president of the Queens, N.Y., chapter of the American Institute of Architects for a two-year term. The theme of her 2009 term will be “Connecting Queens: Fabric and Future,” highlighting innovative architecture and design in Queens and the greater metropolitan area. Her firm, Laura Heim Architect, received 2008 design awards from both the Queens Chamber of Commerce and the Queens & Bronx Building Association for a historic Astoria row house renovation.
