Michael T. Powers (Com ’79) was appointed as the principal deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Army (Financial Management & Comptroller) and acting assistant secretary of the Army (Financial Management & Comptroller)/chief financial officer in July 2017. In this role, his mission includes formulating, submitting, and defending the Army budget to Congress and the American people and overseeing the proper and effective use of appropriated resources to accomplish the Army’s assigned objectives. His work providing reliable financial information to leaders and managers will enable them to incorporate cost considerations into their decision-making.
