Madeline T. Kristoff (Col ’08) is a research assistant for the Security Sector Governance Initiative at the United States Institute of Peace and was awarded a post-graduate Boren Fellowship by the U.S. Department of Defense. The Boren Fellowships are funded by the National Security Education Program, which focuses on geographic areas, languages and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Ms. Kristoff will spend ten months studying Arabic (formal and dialect) at Birzeit University in the West Bank. She will also extend her research on the EU Police Reform Mission in the West Bank and how establishing the Palestinian police influences the creation of a Palestinian state. In addition to working at the USIP for the past two years, Ms. Kristoff pursued a master’s degree from the American University Graduate School in Washington, D.C.
