Alex Shaw

Alex Shaw (Educ ’09) published Say Yes To Risk: Living Outside the Safety Industrial Complex in October. In it, Shaw defines the “Safety Industrial Complex” and examines the interconnected world of regulatory agencies, public health institutions, the media, the insurance industry, tort law and the safety profession. He uncovers how related incentives, however well-intentioned, continually push us toward more protection, more control and less tolerance for risk.
