Michele Mixner DeWitt (Arch ’91 CM) was appointed as the city manager of Williamsburg, Virginia, on May 27, becoming the first woman to hold the role. She had served as interim city manager since Feb. 25. She has worked for the City of Williamsburg since 2005, beginning as their first economic development director, where she oversaw their $5 million City Tourism Development Fund. In 2021, she was promoted to assistant city manager; in 2025, she became deputy city manager.

Dewitt is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners, a certified economic developer with the International Economic Development Council, and an economic development finance professional with GrowAmerica. An active leader, she is a past president of the Virginia Economic Developers Association and the Williamsburg Garden Club.
