Nikki Demian (Col ’97)
Nikki Lawson Demian (CLAS 97) and her husband Gary welcomed their third, (and final) child, Ryker Gray on January 25. Ryker joins older brother Lawson and older sister Paisley. Nikki and Gary reside in Littleton, CO where Nikki is a middle school math teacher and Gary is in management with Starbucks.
Karl Mertig (Col ’98 CM)
Karl Mertig (Col ’98 CM) and his wife, Stephanie, welcomed their first child, Carter Patrick, on May 5, 2014. The family resides in Virginia Beach, where Mr. Mertig is an associate with the engineering firm Kimley-Horn.
Martha Gray (Col ’06, Darden ’11 CM)
Martha Gray (Col ’06, Darden ’11 CM) and Justin R. Woodruff (Col ’07) were married on May 10, 2014, in Richmond, Va., where the couple currently resides. Ms. Gray is the great-niece of Wallace Stettinius (Col ’55, Darden ’59, ’77 L/M).
Jeremy Camden (Col ’02 CM)
Jeremy Camden (Col ’02 CM) and Erin Gore Camden (Col ’02 L/M) welcomed a son, Keller Darby, on Nov. 1, 2013. Keller joins big brother Graham. The family resides in Leonardtown, Md.
Camille Cline (Col ’91 CM)
Camille Cline (Col ’91 CM) has been elected president of the Pine View Association for the Pine View School for the Gifted in Osprey, Fla., where her children, Kemper (12) and Jack (9), attend. The school is ranked No. 1 in the state of Florida and No. 6 nationally on the U.S. News & World Report list of best high schools. Ms. Cline is senior associate director of alumni and parent engagement and annual giving for University of Virginia Advancement.
Laura Doest (Col ’84)
Laura Doest (Col ’84) , Paige Dean (Col ’86 L/M), Mae Isaacson (Col ’88 L/M) and Camille Cline (Col ’91 L/M) serve on the board of directors of the Pine View Association at the Pine View School for the Gifted in Osprey, Fla. Ms. Ter Doest manages several major fundraising campaigns and Ms. Cline, Ms. Isaacson and Ms. Dean serve as board president, treasurer and secretary, respectively. The Pine View School is ranked No. 1 in the state of Florida and No. 6 nationally on the U.S. News & World Report list of best high schools.
Patti Digh (Grad ’85)
Patti Digh (Grad ’85) published The Geography of Loss: Embrace What Is, Honor What Was, Love What Will Be in January 2014. She has written seven books, including Life Is a Verb, a finalist for both the national Books for a Better Life Award and the Southern Independent Booksellers Association’s Book of the Year Award. Ms. Digh’s first book, Global Literacies: Lessons on Business Leadership and National Cultures, was named one of Fortune magazine’s Best Business Books of 2000. She lives near Asheville, N.C., with her husband, John Ptak; and their two daughters.
Kevin Todd (Col ’11)
Kevin Todd (Col ’11) published an article, “Atherectomy offers no benefits over balloon angioplasty in tibial interventions for critical limb ischemia,” in the Journal of Vascular Surgery. He is listed as first author on the article, which he co-wrote with Dr. Sadaf S. Ahanchi. Mr. Todd is a third-year medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va.
Teodora Mihaylova (Col ’09 CM)
Teodora Mihaylova (Col ’09 CM) received a master of arts degree in international affairs from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in May 2013. She is currently a research assistant with the Center for International Private Enterprise in Washington, D.C., where she is pursuing a career in international development focusing on democratization and market-oriented reforms. Ms. Mihaylova resides in Silver Spring, Md.
Justin McDougall (Com ’09)
Justin McDougall (Com ’09) and Jessica Clarke (Col ’10) were married on May 4, 2013, in West Chester, Pa. The couple currently resides in Philadelphia, where Mr. McDougall works in private equity at Morgan Stanley and Ms. McDougall works in wealth management at TIAA-CREF.
Enoch Chow (Col ’09 CM)
Enoch Chow (Col ’09 CM) received the Thesis Award from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology for his master’s thesis, The Effects of Music and Video on Perceived Exertion and Performance of a Cycling Task at Vigorous Intensity. The award acknowledges the completion of an outstanding thesis by an AASP student member. Mr. Chow recently earned a master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
William Watts (Col ’08 CM)
William Watts (Col ’08 CM) and Lindsay Katherine “Katie” McCarthy (Col ’09 L/M) were married on May 11, 2013, in Richmond, Va. The couple resides in Arlington, Va., where Ms. McCarthy is a volunteer services team leader at Children’s National Medical Center in nearby Washington, D.C., and Mr. Watts works in new business capture at SRA International in Fairfax, Va.
Shakenya Johnson (Com ’08)
Shakenya Johnson (Com ’08) has received a $10,000 scholarship from the KMPG Foundation to pursue her doctorate in accounting at the University of Alabama. Previously, Ms. Johnson worked as a certified public accountant in the Montgomery, Ala., area.
Jennifer Clifton (Com ’08, Com ’09 CM)
Jennifer Clifton (Com ’08, Com ’09 CM) and Samuel Leven (Col ’07, Law ’10 L/M) were married on May 16, 2010. The couple welcomed their first child, Noah Robert Leven, on Feb. 12, 2013. The couple resides in Fairfax, Va., where Ms. Clifton is an accountant for KPMG and Mr. Leven is an attorney with The Baldwin Law Firm.
Christopher Walters (Com ’07 CM)
Christopher Walters (Com ’07 CM) received an MBA degree in May 2013 from Columbia University’s Columbia Business School. He works at Credit Suisse advising high net worth individuals, foundations and institutions on comprehensive wealth management and investments. He resides in New York City.

Nick Ramos (Col ’07 CM), Greg Duffy (Col ’93 L/M) and Ben Davee (Col ’06) work together at the same camp as part of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force to foster governance, development and security in Afghanistan.
Kalin Kanov (Col ’06 CM)
Kalin Kanov (Col ’06 CM) received a master of science degree in engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in May 2011 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in computer science at Johns Hopkins. He currently resides in Silver Spring, Md.
Christopher Morrissey (Col ’05)
Christopher Morrissey (Col ’05) and his wife, Victoria, welcomed twin daughters Ashley Rose and Kayla Dawn on Aug. 22, 2013. The family resides in Connecticut, where Mr. Morrissey works for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Mark Meier (Arch ’07, Grad ’05)
Mark Meier (Arch ’07, Grad ’05) published a novel, Wisecrack, with Assent Publishing. A conspiracy thriller that adapts the structure of T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land,” Wisecrack features a female protagonist who often finds herself alienated and in danger. Meier is donating a portion of the novel’s sales to Safe Harbor in Richmond, Va., and the Shelter for Help in Emergency in Charlottesville, two organizations that help women in need, and to the nonprofit organization Roots of Peace.
Michael Burgess (Com ’04 CM)
Michael Burgess (Com ’04 CM) and Kathleen Young Burgess (Com ’04 L/M) welcomed their first child, John Benjamin, on Sept. 19, 2013. The family resides in Charlotte, N.C.
