“Wedding” Class Notes
Daniel Young (Col ’13 CM)
Daniel Young (Col ’13 CM) and Madeline Caldemeyer were married Sept. 24, 2022, in Cincinnati. Cavaliers in attendance were Glen Hookey (Col ’13 CM), Zac Whittaker (Col ’13 CM), Kenny Perez (Col ’13), Andrew Baltimore (Col’13 CM) and Sunan Ahmed (Col ’13).
The couple met in Cincinnati during Young’s medical residency at Cincinnati Children’s, and they currently reside in St. Louis while he completes his pediatric hospitalist fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. They are moving to Denver with their Samoyed puppy, Wally, in July 2023—right after their honeymoon to South Africa and Mozambique.
Kathryn Wymer (Col ’14)
Katie Wymer (Col ’14) and Philipp Clarke (Col ’15 CM) were married on Oct. 8, 2022, at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta, Georgia. The couple resides in Atlanta, where Wymer works as an attorney and Clarke works in politics.
Alice Shaw (Col ’12)
Ali Shaw (Col ’12 CM) married FortHouse Studios illustrator Joe Rosshirt on Aug. 13, 2022 at The Towers in Narragansett, Rhode Island. The ceremony was officiated by Jane Carrick (Col ’12 CM), with many ’Hoos in attendance. The couple lives in South Portland, Maine, with their Lab mix Astro.
Sara Albrecht (Col ’18 CM)
Sara Albrecht (Col ’18 CM) and Michael McWilliams (Col ’18 CM) were married in Charlottesville July 10, 2022.
Marisa Roman (Col ’09 CM)
Marisa Roman (Col ’09 CM) and Brett Sabbag were married July 30, 2022 in Harwich, Massachusetts. Ms. Roman received a law degree from Boston University School of Law in 2015. Mr. Sabbag is a graduate of Colby College and of Suffolk University Law School. The couple lives in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The signature cocktails for the wedding were the Colby Mule Juice and the Wahoo Spritz.
Geoffrey Skelley (Col ’09 CM)
Geoffrey Skelley (Col ’09 CM) and Alexandra Garrett (Grad ’16, ’20 CM) were married on June 18, 2022, in a private ceremony at James Monroe’s Highland just outside of Charlottesville. The couple lives in Yonkers, New York, but will soon be moving to Burlington, Vermont, where Garrett has accepted a position as an assistant professor of history at Saint Michael’s College. Skelley is an elections analyst for FiveThirtyEight, part of ABC News.
Paola Gregus (Com ’13)
Paola A. Castillo (Com ’13 CM) and Matthew T. Gregus (Com ’13, ’14) celebrated their one year wedding anniversary on May 21, 2022. They were married at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Washington D.C. The couple will be moving to Tampa, Florida with their one-year-old pug, Gnocchi, and continue to work for the federal Risk and Financial Advisory practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Wilson Weber (Com ’84)
Wilson Weber (Engr ’13 CM) and his wife Ani McDowell celebrated their Feb 2020 California wedding with a belated East Coast reception at Charlottesville’s The Space Downtown on Oct 16, 2021. Fellow Wahoos in attendance included John Weber (Com ’84 CM), Joey Murphy (Engr ’12 CM), Kyle Brew (Engr ’13 CM), Kylene Brew (Engr ’13 CM), Patrick Brown (Engr ’13), Chris Curtin (Com ’13), Chris Millisits (Col ’13 CM), Andrew Noh (Engr ’13 CM), Jared Arrington (Col ’14 CM), Heidi Trott (Col ’14 CM), Will Vieth (Engr ’14, Law ’19 CM), Carter King (Engr ’15 CM), Taylor Chamness (Col ’17 CM), Zoe Grippo (Col ’18 CM), Jake Weber (Engr ’18 CM), Eileen Cowdery (Darden ’19) and Hank Weber (Engr ’20 CM). Will and Ani reside in Denver, Colorado, where Ani is a senior product manager at Split and Will is a consulting and engineering lead at Google.
Pamela Maliszewskyj (Col ’89)
Dr. Nicholas C. Maliszewskyj (Col ’89 CM) and Ms. Pamela Baldwin (Col ’89 CM) first met in the Hancock dormitory stairwell in August 1985, and they formed a close friendship that has spanned over 36 years. They were married on Mar. 12, 2022, in Frederick, Maryland with their four adult children and many friends and family in attendance. The couple will reside in Frederick following a brief honeymoon in Bermuda. Wahoowa!
Molly Scarborough (Col ’13)
Roscoe Scarborough (Grad ’09, ’15) and Molly Petry (Col ’13 CM) were married on Mar. 11, 2022, in a private wedding ceremony at the Historic Brunswick Courthouse in Brunswick, Georgia. The couple resides on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Halley House (Col ’08)
Halley Bogart (Col ’08) and William House, USA Ret., were married on Feb. 24, 2022, in San Diego, California. The Houses reside in Durham, North Carolina.
Ann Hewitt (Nurs ’79)
Ann Hewitt (Nurs ’79 CM) married Jon Gordon on New Year’s Day, 2020, on a shockingly warm and sunny Chicago day. The celebration took place in the historic landmark Chicago Athletic Association overlooking Lake Michigan, and the clouds over the lake turned pink as the sun set and the couple made their vows. A dinner reception featuring an 18-piece big band inspired nonstop dancing, led by the many ’Hoos in attendance. Guests included Allyson Wells Bakewell (Nurs ’81 CM), Barbara Cherney Andrukonis (Col ’79 CM), Beth Rasin (Col ’79 CM), Cindy Richardson Milton (Com ’79 CM), Don Havermann (Com ’76, Law ’80 CM), Geri Wright Miner (Com ’79 CM), Hughes Bakewell (Com ’81 CM), Kathy Simmons Neel (Com ’79 CM), Kit Kammerer Schumaker (Nurs ’80 CM), Martha Weaver Preston (Com ’79 CM), Tracy Hyde Havermann (Educ ’79 CM) and Vicki Vasta Healy (Nurs ’81 CM). Ann and Jon live in Winnetka, Illinois. Ann works for STERIS Corporation and Jon is retired.
Frances Wall (Col ’14)
Frances Sarrett (COL ’14 CM) and Michael Wall (COL ’12 CM) were married on November 6, 2021 in Mobile, Alabama surrounded by friends and fellow ’Hoos. Frances is the daughter of Kemper Sarrett III (Col ’82 CM) and Bowden Overbey Sarrett (Col ’82 CM), and the granddaughter of Kemper Sarrett Jr. (Col ’52 CM). The couple lives in Richmond, Virginia.
Cristina Foran (Col ’10)
Cristina Liebolt (Col ’10 CM) married fellow Wahoo Lincoln Foran (Col ’10 CM) on Sept. 5, 2021, at St. Paul’s Memorial Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, with a reception following at Farmington Country Club. Also in attendance were matron of honor Freyan Soonawalla (Col ’10, Darden ’19) and husband Rohan Bakshi (Col ’10); bridesmaids Ashley Craddock (Res ’23) and Margaret Kelly (Law ’15); and groomsman Tyler Duke (Col ’10 CM). Cristina and Lincoln first met at UVA, but they reconnected in New York City after running into one another at the William and Wall Street subway station. They now live in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. with their black lab Rugby.
Richard Willetts (Educ ’06)
Neal Willetts (Educ ’06) is delighted to announce his engagement to Elijah Thomas Lee Akers, an IT Specialist in the US Navy currently serving on the USS George Washington. The couple met in February 2020 when Neal was bartending an event for Eli’s ship, and as people say, the rest is history! They are tentatively planning a spring 2023 wedding. As Eli will have just gotten out of the Navy, the couple plans to reside in Eli’s native Columbus, Ohio after the wedding. The couple have three cats: Augustus, Sulla and Pip.
Bryan Thomas (Col ’10)
Bryan Thomas (COL ’10 CM) married his college sweetheart, Lisa Hamilton (COL ’11, EDUC ’11 CM), on Juneteenth, June 19, 2021. The couple wed in Washington, D.C. surrounded by family and fellow ‘Hoos.
Benjamin Rubenstein (Col ’07)
Benjamin Rubenstein (Col ’07) married Stefanie Cohen, a University of Maryland alumna, on Nov. 7, 2021. Though he happily moved to Maryland to live with her, he was pleased they wedded in The Better State.
Lindsay Vaught (Com ’01)
Lindsay Vaught (COM ’01 CM) married Taka Wakino in August 2021 at the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Diego, California. Jeff Ludden (ENGR ’00 CM) officiated the ceremony, with Laura Wright (COL ’01 CM) acting as matron of honor. The couple lives in San Diego, California.
Rebecca Clemo (Engr ’13)
Amanda Bradley (Col ’14, Educ ’14 CM) and Momin Khan (Engr ’13) were married in Vienna, Va. on September 25, 2021. Their reception was held at the home of Amanda’s parents, Maria Sevilla (Col ’81 CM) and Stephen Bradley. Rebecca Clemo (Engr ’13, Res ’21 CM) served as matron of honor. Amanda is the niece of Eduardo Sevilla (Eng ’85 CM). Also in attendance were Kelly Wagner (Eng ’13 CM), Ida Yonas (Col ’13 CM), Madeleine Hambletom (Col ’13), Merrick Kozak (Col ’12, Res ’21 CM), Jeff Hall (Col ’13 CM), Joseph Featherston (Col ’13 CM), John Lunsford (Engr ’13 CM), Steven Cook (Engr ’14 CM), Virginia Cook (Engr ’13), Daniel Eustace (Col ’13 CM), and Annie Clemo (Col ’17 CM). The couple lives in Richmond, where Momin is a programmer and Amanda is a teacher.
Oriana Dougherty (Col ’15)
Oriana Dougherty (Col ’15 CM) and Michael Dougherty (Col ’15, Med ’20 CM) celebrated their marriage in their home state of Kentucky on June 18, 2021 with several fellow UVA grads present. They reside in Portland, OR where Oriana works in cloud technology and Michael is an otolaryngology resident.
