“Other” Class Notes

Ken Treadway (Col ’91 CM) was recently named executive director of customer success at Ungerboeck Software International in St. Louis, where he has worked for more than a decade. His new duties include managing all facets of customer-facing activities for the global software company on six continents. Mr. Treadway lives in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., with his wife, Beth, and their three children: Ally, 14; Emmy, 12; and Reed, 7.

Kristi Farouki (Col ’00, Educ ’01) and Karim Farouki (Engr ’02) welcomed a daughter, Maya Siena, on July 4, 2014. Maya joins big sister Serene, 4, and big brother Samy, 6, and is the niece of Jeremy Rayburn (Com ’03 L/M). The Faroukis reside in Leesburg, Va.

Leslie Elliott (Col ’98) and her husband, Richard, welcomed a daughter, Katherine “Kate” Button, on April 10, 2014. The family resides in Chico, Calif., where Ms. Elliott is an associate professor of physics and science education at California State University, Chico.

Alicia Truslow (Educ ’92) has written more than 100 print and e-book recipe, craft and human and animal disability titles, all written for new readers or people with reading problems.

Diana Scheer (Col ’97 CM) and her husband, Daniel, welcomed a son, Nathan Jonah, on March 23, 2014. The family resides in South Glastonbury, Conn.

Allison Griswold Wessner (Col ’06 L/M) and her husband, Matthew, welcomed a daughter, Madeleine Rae, on July 28, 2014. Madeleine is the niece of Ryan P. Griswold (Engr ’02 L/M). The family resides in Portsmouth, Va., where both new parents are physicians in the U.S. Navy.

Allie Pesch (Col ’05) and Arthur J. “A.J.” Pesch (Col ’06, Med ’13) welcomed a daughter, Lottie Beatrice, on Aug. 22, 2014. Lottie joins big brother Leo Marshall, 4, and big sister Louisa Ruby, 6. The family resides in Crozet, Va., where Ms. Pesch is a freelance graphic designer and Dr. Pesch is a radiology resident at UVA Hospital.

Candice MacCutcheon Kessler (Nurs ’07) completed her MSN at UNC Chapel Hill in May 2013 and is working as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Rankin OBGYN in Charlotte, NC. She and her husband Mike welcomed their son, Kellen Patrick, on August 28, 2014.

Coleman Bigelow (Col ’97, Darden ’05 CM) and his wife, Maura, welcomed a daughter, Maeve Caroline, on May 13, 2014. Maeve joins big brother Ian and big sister Molly. The family resides in Maplewood, N.J., where Mr. Bigelow works in marketing and sustainability for Johnson & Johnson.

Amanda Scopelliti (Engr ’06 CM) and her husband, Frank, welcomed a daughter, Ava Rose, on June 18, 2014. Ava is the granddaughter of Duncan MacArthur (Engr ’65 L/M). The family resides in Thornwood, N.Y.

Nevin Meissner (Col ’12 CM) received a Master of Education degree in human development and psychology from Harvard University in May 2014. While at Harvard, Mr. Meissner worked in admissions at Harvard Divinity School and assisted with several research projects. He currently resides in Cambridge, Mass.

Stephen Morgan (SCPS ’13) is an auditor for the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Inspector General in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was an accounting tech with Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Rome, N.Y.

Natalie Eller (Col ’12 CM) has been selected to participate in the 2014-15 New York City Urban Fellows Program, a nine-month fellowship that combines work in mayoral offices and city agencies with an intensive seminar series that explores current urban issues affecting public policy.

Robert Shaughnessy (Col ’10, Com ’11 CM) and Noella Overbey (Col ’11 L/M) welcomed their first child, a daughter, Maya Grace, on June 19, 2014. The family resides in Plainsboro, N.J.

Zachary Shapiro (Engr ’09 CM) and Susan Jane Grayden Bowden (Col ’10 L/M) were married on May 24, 2014, in Asheville, N.C. The couple resides in Raleigh, N.C., where Ms. Shapiro is a combined veterinary/Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University and Mr. Shapiro is an M.B.A. student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Andrew Durfor (Grad ’09) is a chemist for the Office of Compliance in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He recently began his one-year Mike Mansfield Fellowship in Ishikawa prefecture in Japan, where he will participate in a homestay and intensive language training before working for 10 months in a Japanese government agency or ministry in Tokyo. During his practical training, Mr. Durfor will seek to gain insight into the pressures and priorities that influence medical device regulation in Japan with attention to the risk management elements used for foreign manufacturers.

Nicole Davila (Col ’08 CM) and Johnny McCarthy were married on March 8, 2014. The couple resides in Honolulu, where Ms. McCarthy works for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Mr. McCarthy is a third-year medical resident with the U.S. Army.

Katherine Calogero (Col ’08 CM) was named to the 2014 list of Washington, D.C., Rising Stars. She is an attorney in the government contracts and investigations practice group at Jackson Kelly. Her practice focuses on government contracts, including all aspects of contract formation, administration and dispute resolution.

Lindsey Smith (Col ’07) and Bryan A. Smith (Col ’07) welcomed a daughter, Emory Davis, on April 24, 2014. The family resides in Louisville, Ky.
