Kevin Passerini (Col ’02)
Kevin Passerini (Col ’02) has been elected to the board of councilors of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. In addition to this new role, he will continue to serve as chair of the recently formed Young Friends of HSP, which provides outreach to attract younger members of the local community and raises funds to preserve and catalogue collections. Mr. Passerini is an attorney in the corporate litigation group in the Philadelphia office of Blank Rome. He also regularly provides pro bono legal services, earning him an honor from the Louisiana Supreme Court for pro bono legal services he provided in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Jodi Elliott (Col ’02 CM)

Jodi Elliott (Col ’02 CM) and her husband, James Watson, welcomed their first son, August Elliott Macrae Watson, on Nov. 28, 2012. The family lives in Princeton, N.J., where Mr. Watson is a postdoctoral research fellow and Ms. Elliott is taking time to be a mom before figuring out what’s next.

Rachel Bartron (Educ ’01)

Rachel Bartron (Educ ’01) is the director of the Louis Maslow Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School in Kingston, Penn. Ms. Bartron is developing and implementing a STEM curriculum at Sem’s Upper and Lower Schools.
Thomas Routten (Col ’00 CM)
Thomas Routten (Col ’00 CM) and Christan Carol Routten (Col ’01 L/M) welcomed their first child, Connor Reed, on Sept. 12, 2012. The family resides in Manteo, N.C. Connor is the nephew of Erin Elizabeth Routten (Col ’04, Educ ’04).

Christopher Gill (Col ’00 CM)
Christopher Gill (Col ’00 CM) is a partner at Christian & Barton, a broad-based civil law firm in Richmond, Va. Mr. Gill focuses his legal practice on commercial real estate, finance and environmental matters. He is a founding co-chair of the Legal Food Frenzy, a collaborative program of the Virginia Bar Association and the Attorney General’s office that raises food and donations for food banks around the Commonwealth. Prior to joining Christian & Barton, he was a judicial clerk to Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judges Edward W. Hanson Jr. and A. Bonwill Shockley. Mr. Gill holds the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, which demonstrates a depth of knowledge in green building practices.

Christine Toes (Col ’99 CM)
Christine Toes (Col ’99 CM) married Philip Muldoon on Sept. 22, 2012. Ms. Toes is a past president of the Virginia Club of New York City. The couple resides in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Traci Thompson (Col ’99)
Traci Thompson (Col ’99) is a partner in the Baton Rouge, La., office of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson. She is an attorney in the firm’s health care section, where she focuses her practice on a wide range of compliance and regulatory matters and has experience representing hospitals and health systems, physicians, pharmacies and other health care-related entities. She advises providers with respect to licensure and regulatory matters, Medicare, Medicaid and other reimbursement issues.

Belinda Jones (Col ’99 CM) is a partner at Christian & Barton, a broad-based civil law firm in Richmond, Va. Ms. Jones is a commercial litigation attorney who represents clients in contractual disputes, health care, products liability, intellectual property and construction matters. Her bar leadership includes service on the Administration of Justice, Continuing Legal Education and Bench-Bar committees for the Bar Association of the City of Richmond, and she is a member of the John Marshall American Inn of Court.

Erin Sloane (Col ’98 CM) is a partner in the litigation, controversy and securities departments of WilmerHale’s New York City office. Her practice focuses on government and internal investigations and white-collar criminal matters.
Edwina Fitch (Col ’97 CM)
Edwina Fitch (Col ’97 CM) and her husband, Justin, welcomed their second child, George Bramhall, on Oct. 10, 2012. George joins a big brother, Henry. The Fitches reside in Jackson, Miss.
Oni Buchanan (Col ’97)
Oni Buchanan (Col ’97) has published a book of poetry, Must A Violence, with the University of Iowa Press. The collection of poems sounds out the problem of how to respond to violence and the domestication of that which is wild.
Stanley Tarr (Col ’93 CM)
Stanley Tarr (Col ’93 CM) has been elected partner of the Wilmington, Del., office of Blank Rome. He concentrates his legal practice on bankruptcy and business reorganization matters. Mr. Tarr represents debtors, creditors’ committees, hedge funds, institutional investors, asset purchasers, equipment lessors and other parties across a wide range of industries in connection with Chapter 11 and reorganizations; out-of-court workouts and corporate restructuring; debtor-in-possession financing; and creditors’ rights and remedies. He also coaches baseball, basketball and lacrosse for the Unionville Recreation Association in Unionville, Penn., and coaches football for the Kennett-Unionville Titans.
Ronnie Price (Grad ’93)
Ronnie Price (Grad ’93) is the associate vice president for human resources at The College of William & Mary. Mr. Price lives in the Charlottesville area with his wife and son. He spends his free time hiking, biking and playing the guitar.
Robert Corser (Arch ’93)
Robert Corser (Arch ’93) has received recognition as one of the 30 most admired educators in design for 2013 by DesignIntelligence magazine. Mr. Corser is an assistant professor of architecture at the University of Washington. A licensed architect in the state of California, his professional experience includes work in San Francisco and London.
Stacey Pharr (Col ’92 CM)
Stacey Pharr (Col ’92 CM) has been included among Business North Carolina magazine’s 2013 “Legal Elite” list for her work in construction law. Her practice is in general civil litigation in both federal and state courts, handling matters in general commercial litigation, construction law, professional liability, products liability and real estate litigation.
Aaron Peck (Com ’92 CM)
Aaron Peck (Com ’92 CM) is chief financial officer, chief investment officer and chief compliance officer for Monroe Capital Corp., a newly formed publicly traded lower-middle market lending fund in Chicago. He lives in Deerfield, Ill., with his wife and three children.
Sandra Chinn-Gilstrap (Col ’92)
Sandra Chinn-Gilstrap (Col ’92) joined the Danville, Va. office of Woods Rogers PLC in October 2012. Of counsel to the firm, Ms. Chinn-Gilstrap is known for her trial practice and advocacy for family and domestic law clients and mental health patients. Formerly a solo practitioner, she served on the first Supreme Court of Virginia Mental Health Task Force on Rules of Court, which promotes professional standards for mental health cases and drafts statewide rules.
David Belmonte (Col ’92)
David Belmonte (Col ’92) , clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Michigan, has been appointed director of medical student education for the department of psychiatry.

Carlyle Wimbish (Law ’90)
Carlyle Wimbish (Law ’90) is an attorney with Sands Anderson in Richmond, Va. He has spent his entire legal career as a member of the firm’s health care group, serving as the group’s leader for the last 12 years. Elected to the Sands Anderson board of directors at the shareholders’ meeting on Jan. 16, 2013, he focuses his practice in the area of medical professional liability defense in courts throughout Virginia.
Claire Ngo (Col ’90)
Claire Ngo (Col ’90) is a member of the 2012 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute. The fellowship program seeks to develop the next generation of community-spirited leaders. In 2008, Ms. Ngo established CMN Consultancy, an advisory and coaching business aimed at fostering talent development in Asia. She previously worked for Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.
Michael Kolatis (Engr ’90 CM)
Michael Kolatis (Engr ’90 CM) is a veterinarian and owner of Fort Lawn Animal Hospital in Fort Lawn, S.C. Dr. Kolatis lives in Fort Lawn with his wife, Barbara Ann; their daughter, Costner Belle, age 5; and their two dogs, Molly and Pepper.
Leslie Greenwald (Grad ’88, Grad ’94)
Leslie Greenwald (Grad ’88, Grad ’94) was elected to the National Academy of Social Insurance for her work in Medicare program and payment system evaluation. Academy membership recognizes those who make distinguished and continuing achievements in the field. Ms. Greenwald is a chief scientist at RTI International and has conducted health services research for more than 20 years.
Bill Crump (Col ’63 CM)

Bill Crump (Col ’63 CM) retired in 2003 as senior manager for professional development and international training for Fluor Daniel, a global engineering construction company. He is now a sailing instructor in Deltaville, Va., where he lives with his wife, Mary.
Terrell Bowers (Col ’85)
Terrell Bowers (Col ’85) released Turning Point, an album of original guitar-driven rock music. The album’s 11 songs deal, sometimes earnestly and sometimes lightheartedly, with events of the last five years. Mr. Bowers and his wife of 25 years, Deane Valentine Bowers (Col ’86 L/M), have four children and live on Kiawah Island, S.C.

Sheldon Whitehouse (Law ’82)
Sheldon Whitehouse (Law ’82) has published a book, On Virtues: Quotations and Insight to Live a Full, Honorable, and Truly American Life, a collection of annotated quotations from Aristotle and Marcus Aurelius to Ernest Hemingway and Winston Churchill. Sen. Whitehouse has represented the state of Rhode Island in the U.S. Senate since 2006. He began collecting quotations that inspired him more than 20 years ago.
John Anderson (Col ’82 CM)
John Anderson (Col ’82 CM) is president of medicine and science for the American Diabetes Association. He will serve as the association’s principal spokesperson and advocate regarding diabetes-related medicine and science issues. Additionally, he will work closely with the association’s volunteers and staff on initiatives in support of the organization’s mission. Dr. Anderson has practiced internal medicine, with a focus on diabetes care, for more than 20 years. His wife, Glenda Holcomb Anderson (Com ’82); and son, Michael C. Anderson (Col ’11 L/M) are also Wahoos.

Christopher Martin (Grad ’80, Grad ’86)
Christopher Martin (Grad ’80, Grad ’86) published a book, Constituting Old Age in Early Modern English Literature, from Queen Elizabeth to King Lear, with the University of Massachusetts Press. The book explores the representation of old age in Elizabethan England. Mr. Martin is an associate professor of English at Boston University.
Kerri Topping (Col ’79)
Kerri Topping (Col ’79) has published a children’s and young adult novel, Hunter Crispian & The Little Brother of War, a story of two lacrosse-playing New York City kids and one spunky little sister who journey back in time while sailing in the Bermuda Triangle.
Philip White (Com ’78 CM)
Philip White (Com ’78 CM) is the president and chief executive officer of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand. He has worked in the industry for 32 years, many of them with Sotheby’s International Realty, and has served in a management capacity and as a broker and owner. Most recently, he served as the brand’s president and chief operating officer, leading it to win Franchise Business Review’s “Best in Category” for real estate franchisee satisfaction for the last five years.
Patti Tereskerz (Col ’78, Grad ’84, Grad ’94, Law ’92)
Patti Tereskerz (Col ’78, Grad ’84, Grad ’94, Law ’92) has published a book, Clinical Research and the Law, which examines the increasingly complex legal implications of conducting clinical research and trials, and provides answers to the legal questions and potential pitfalls encountered in medical research. Ms. Tereskerz is an associate professor and the director of the Program in Ethics and Policy in Health Care at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Nancy Kelly (Col ’77)
Nancy Kelly (Col ’77) is the executive director of Health Volunteers Overseas. Recently awarded honorary membership in the American Dental Association, she was also named an honorary fellow of the International College of Dentists in recognition of her work in advancing dental health globally.
Elizabeth Meyer (Arch ’78, Arch ’82)
Elizabeth Meyer (Arch ’78, Arch ’82) has received appointment from President Barack Obama to a four-year term on the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. She is the only landscape architect on the commission. DesignIntelligence magazine has also named Ms. Meyer, an associate professor of architecture at the University, one of the 30 most admired educators in design for 2013.
Barbara Wall (Col ’76, Law ’79 CM)
Barbara Wall (Col ’76, Law ’79 CM) received the First Amendment Award from the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press at the committee’s annual gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 27, 2012. She was honored for her efforts to promote press freedom and government transparency. Ms. Wall lives with her husband, Chris Wall (Law ’79), in Washington, D.C., where she is vice president and senior counsel of Gannett Co.
Jill Tietjen (Engr ’76 CM)
Jill Tietjen (Engr ’76 CM) received the 2012 Daughters of the American Revolution History Award Medal for her book Her Story: A Timeline of the Women Who Changed America. The DAR bestows the award on an individual or group whose study and/or promotion of some aspect of the American past has significantly advanced the understanding of American history.

Peter Newman (Col ’74)
Peter Newman (Col ’74) is a Bible teacher who recently published a book, The Meaning of the Cross. The book examines the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and explains how the mystery of the cross is the key to understanding the gospel.
Donald Lopez (Col ’74, Grad ’77, Grad ’82)
Donald Lopez (Col ’74, Grad ’77, Grad ’82) published a book, The Scientific Buddha: His Short and Happy Life, with Yale University Press. The book, which tells the story of the Scientific Buddha, “born” in Europe in the 1800s but commonly confused with the Buddha born in India, 2,500 years ago, is based on the Terry Lectures, which Mr. Lopez delivered at Yale in 2008. Previous Terry lecturers include John Dewey, Carl Jung, Paul Tillich and Stephen Jay Gould. Mr. Lopez is the Arthur E. Link Distinguished University Professor of Buddhist and Tibetan Studies at the University of Michigan. A leading scholar of Buddhism, he is the author or editor of more than 20 books.
Denis Deane (Educ ’72 CM)
Denis Deane (Educ ’72 CM) has retired from his position as vice president of human resources and support services of a retirement community. Previously, he spent 13 years as an elementary school assistant principal and principal before leaving public education for a career in the private industrial sector as a personnel manager and vice president of administration. He is thoroughly enjoying his retirement.

Richard Erickson (Grad ’71 CM) , a national board member of the Florida State University Alumni Association, has been appointed chair of its scholarship committee for 2012-13.
John OBrion (Law ’68)
John OBrion (Law ’68) received the 2012 Excellence in Civil Litigation Award from the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for the past 22 years. Since 1995, Mr. OBrion has served as a mediator in more than 900 disputes. In 2005, lawyers of Virginia voted him Virginia Business Magazine’s top mediator in Virginia. He resides in Richmond, Va.
Gregory Johnson (Col ’68 CM)
Gregory Johnson (Col ’68 CM) has retired after 45 years of service to the University community in the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library.
John Moore (Col ’66 CM)
John Moore (Col ’66 CM) published Hostage of Paradox: A Qualmish Disclosure, a memoir about his military service during the Vietnam War. Mr. Moore is a highly decorated former Green Beret sergeant who participated in secret operations in North Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Hostage of Paradox describes many of the little-known missions and close calls that he experienced.
Ralph Rives (Educ ’60)
Ralph Rives (Educ ’60) presented a lecture, “Nineteenth-Century Eastern Carolina Christmas Customs,” at the Christmas celebration of the town of Enfield, N.C., on Nov. 28, 2012, a program sponsored by the Enfield Restoration and Preservation Association. Mr. Rives’ talk focused on the years 1740-1840, the first century of Enfield’s existence, and discussed a few town legends and significant historic events, such as one of the first acts of rebellion against the British empire, recorded in 1759. Mr. Rives retired from the East Carolina University English department in 1992.
N. Connally (Col ’58, Med ’62, Res ’68 CM)
N. Connally (Col ’58, Med ’62, Res ’68 CM) was awarded the 2012 Ralph O. Claypoole Senior Memorial Award by the American College of Physicians. The award is given to an internist who has dedicated a professional lifetime to exemplary patient care, teaching and service to the profession and the community. Dr. Connally practiced general internal medicine in Washington, D.C., for 32 years, and since his retirement has served as a volunteer physician, including six years as medical director of the Arlington Free Clinic in Arlington, Va. He has also served on several not-for-profit boards, including the U.Va. Board of Visitors.

Mary Richman (Com ’00 CM)
Mary Richman (Com ’00 CM) and Jeffrey Richman (Com ’99 L/M) welcomed their third child, Eve Adeline, on June 25, 2012. Evie joins a sister, Noa, 5, and a brother, Patrick, 3. The family resides in Boston.
Howell O’Rear (Col ’02, Law ’07 CM)

Howell O’Rear (Col ’02, Law ’07 CM) has established a law firm, McInteer & O’Rear, in Nashville, Tenn. His practice focuses on music industry and health care litigation. Mr. O’Rear will also continue to assist clients in developing enforcement procedures to protect their intellectual property rights.
