“Birth” Class Notes

On December 4, 2016, Margaret “Moggie” Bolton Baudinet (Col ’07 L/M) and her husband, Michael A. Baudinet (Col ’04 L/M) welcomed quintuplets—four girls and one boy—at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. After spending a month under care and observation in the hospital’s NICU, Ava Louise, Clara Catherine, Camille “Millie” Whitney, Isabelle Frances and Luke Thomas were released to their parents in early January.

The Baudinets had relocated temporarily from Charlottesville to Phoenix to work with Dr. John Elliott, a specialist in multiple-birth pregnancies. When the quintuplets were released from the hospital, the Baudinets were faced with a new hurdle: how to transport the babies to Virginia in peak flu season.  With the help of a fellow UVA alumnus, the family was able to find a private jet to take them home.

Grandparents Kaye and Thomas Bolton, Charles A. Baudinet (Darden ’81) and Virginia C. Baudinet (Educ ’80) are assisting the Baudinets with childcare. Ms. Baudinet is documenting life with quintuplets on her blog, Baudinetquints.blogspot.com.

Courtney Lodge McCreesh (Col ’03) and Patrick Joseph McCreesh (Col ’02) welcomed their third daughter, Bridget Lodge McCreesh, on August 26, 2015. She joined sisters Elizabeth Maeve (6) and Rose Mary (3). In May 2016, Patrick graduated with his PhD in Public Policy from George Mason University, School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs.

Kate Rothrock Fleming (Col ’08) and PC Fleming (Grad ’09, ’12) happily welcomed a son on November 8, 2016. Penn Carroll Fleming weighed 5 lb 7 oz and was 19 ½ in.

Chris Sullivan (Engr ’00) and his wife Amy welcomed their third son Andrew Michael Sullivan on January 16, 2017. Andrew joins brothers Thomas (6) and William (3). The family resides in Winnetka, IL.

Chad Anderson Felts (Col ’09) and Kristi Ann Felts (Col ’09) welcomed twin boys, Cole Anderson and Lane Jackson, on January 12, 2017. The couple resides in Troy, Virginia. Mr. Felts is a Research Analyst for the Albemarle County Police Department. Mrs. Felts is an Operations Supervisor for the Social Security Administration.

Meredith Lufkin Majoch (Com ’02) and her husband, Thomas, welcomed twins Christopher Elwood and Liliana Claire on December 8, 2016. The family lives in Boston, where Ms. Majoch is the director of Joint Venture Relationships at Boston Properties.

Jonathan A. Havens (Col ’05 L/M) and and his wife, Jayne, welcomed their second child, Ivy Maris, on August 2, 2016. Ivy joins brother Sidney Ellis, 4. Ivy is the granddaughter of Debra Hardy Havens (Nurs ’79). The family lives in Lutherville, Maryland.

Neil Berkowitz (Col ’99) and his wife, Caroline Musin Berkowitz, welcomed a son, Eliezer Moshe, in August 2016. Eliezer joins sister Shira, 3. The family lives in Chicago, Illinois, where Mr. Berkowitz is a staff attorney at the law firm Jenner & Block.

Charles Oliver Iselin (Col ’03 L/M) and Courtney Marzahn Iselin (Com ’06) welcomed their first child, Oliver Halsey Iselin, on October 2, 2016. The couple resides in New York City, where Ms. Iselin is vice president with Magrino Agency and Mr. Iselin is vice president with Guggenheim Partners.

Jonathan R. Thompson (Col ’04, Educ ’05) and his wife, Lauren, welcomed their third child, Elise Draper Thompson, on February 10, 2016. Elise joins brother Ryland and sister Sophia, both 4. Elise is the niece of Benjamin J. Thompson (Arch ’02, ’07) and Summerlyn Lotz Thompson (Col ’03, Educ ’03, ’08), Michael L. Perry (UVA-Wise ’05) and Rebecca Thompson Perry (Col ’09 L/M), and the granddaughter of William A. Thompson III (Arch ’76) and Jan Chaffin Thompson (Col ’82). The Thompson family lives in Charlottesville and takes a picnic to the Lawn most Sundays.

Michael Inge (Educ ’15) and his wife, Sarah, welcomed a son, Elijah David, on July 7, 2016.

Elizabeth Pugatch (Col ’06 CM) and her husband, Alexander Pugatch (Com ’06 L/M), welcomed their second child, a daughter, Caroline Reese, on July 12, 2016. The family lives in Armonk, New York.

Elizabeth McNamara (Col ’01, Med ’07 CM) and her husband, Robert, welcomed a son, Robert John “Jack” McNamara, on July 18, 2016. He joins sister Belle, 4, and is the grandson of Linda Sargent (Med ’69 L/M) and John P. Kaufman (Med ’70 L/M).

Erin Pesant (Engr ’99 CM) and her husband, Charles Pesant (Col ’99), welcomed their third child, Charles Joseph, on December 15, 2015. Charlie joins brothers George, 6, and Theodore, 4.

Noah Kaufman (Com ’99 CM) and his wife, Rachelle Lasken Kaufman (Col ’02), welcomed a son, Benjamin William, in May 2016. The Kaufmans live in Arlington, Virginia, where Mr. Kaufman works as a systems accountant at the U.S. Department of State and is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland University College, and Ms. Kaufman is a personal trainer. Mr. Kaufman recently published his third book, Lessons from the Wrestling Mat—Life Lessons from a Quarter Century of Coaching and Competing (CreateSpace), which includes lessons learned during his time on the UVA wrestling team. Ms. Kaufman has also written several books, part of the Kaufman Green Guide series (Amazon Digital Services).

Kimberly Curtis (Col ’00 CM) and her husband, Bruce Vlk, welcomed a daughter, Audrey Vlk, on October 18, 2016. The family lives in Crozet, where Ms. Curtis works as a research editor for the Washington Papers, a grant-funded project at the University.

Jaime Wisegarver (Col ’05 CM) and her husband, Jordi Lamas, welcomed a son, Oscar Carlos Lamas, on October 8, 2016. The family lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Adam Wood (Col ’99, Darden ’05 CM) and Melissa Seymour “Missy” Wood (Col ’01, Educ ’01 L/M) welcomed a fourth son, James Patrick Wood, on September 13, 2016. James joins Harrison and August, both 8, and Philip, 4. The Wood family lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Deana Miller (Med ’11) and her husband, Ronald Miller, welcomed their first child, a daughter, Helen Mae Miller, on September 26, 2016. The family lives in Wilmington, North Carolina.

William Oetgen (Col ’05, Res ’15 CM) and his wife, Laura Nelson Oetgen (Col ’07, Educ ’07, ’19 L/M), welcomed their second child, Thomas Everett, on June 21, 2016. Everett joins sister Nora, 2. The family lives in Charlottesville, where Dr. Oetgen is a practicing psychiatrist and Ms. Oetgen is pursuing a specialist degree in reading education.

Ilan Kaufer (Col ’03 CM) and his wife, Stephanie, welcomed a daughter, Arden Lillie, on July 13, 2016. Arden joins brother Asher, 2. The family lives in Jupiter, Florida.

Hillary Mikeska (Col ’02 CM) and her husband, Michael Mikeska (Col ’02 L/M), welcomed their second son, Henry Morris, on February 16, 2016. Henry joins brother Charlie, 3, and is the grandson of Paul Augustus Stuhlreyer III (Darden ’76 L/M) and the nephew of Matthew Mikeska (Col ’94). The Mikeska family lives in Richmond, Virginia, where Ms. Mikeska works for Altria and Mr. Mikeska works for Markel.

Natalie Bell (Col ’06) and her husband, John Fredrick Bell (Med ’06, ’07, Res ’10), welcomed a son, Henry Jackson Bell, on August 29, 2016. He joins sister Annie Reese, 2.

Lindsey Cote (Col ’03) and her husband, Tyler, welcomed a daughter, Katherine Ada, on May 9, 2016. Katherine joins brothers Dylan, 5, and Bryant, 3. The family lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Karen Courington (Col ’01 CM) and her husband, Chris Finan, welcomed a daughter, Caroline Courington Finan, on August 12, 2016. Ms. Courington is an operations manager for Facebook and previously served as military adviser to Sen. Tim Kaine. Mr. Finan is CEO of Manifold Technology, a cybersecurity firm. The family lives in Menlo Park, California.

Jennifer Berger (Col ’05 CM) and her husband, Jonathan, welcomed their third child, Raines Clark Berger, on April 28, 2016. He joins sisters Mattie, 4, and Sophie, 2.

Paige Anderson (Com ’07, Law ’13 CM) and her husband, Marc, welcomed a daughter, Mackenzie Corbin, on July 6, 2016. Mackenzie is the first grandchild of John Nichols (Col ’78 L/M) and Suzanne Nichols (Educ ’79, ’84 L/M). The Andersons live in Richmond, Virginia.

Erika Caruso (Col ’05, Educ ’05 CM) and her husband, Thomas J. Caruso (Col ’04), welcomed a daughter, Marielle Frances, on June 1, 2016. Marielle joins sister Charlotte Jane, 2. The family lives in Menlo Park, California.

Michael Wells (Col ’01) and his wife, Jillian Brevorka, welcomed a daughter, Caroline McCarthy Brevorka-Wells, on December 2, 2015.

Hunter Chorey (Col ’05 CM) and Mika Richardson Chorey (Col ’05, Nurs ’08, ’14 L/M) welcomed a daughter, Molly Callison, on April 7, 2016.  Molly joins sister Caroline, 2.  Molly is the granddaughter of Thomas V. Chorey Jr. (Engr ’69, Law ’72 L/M) and the niece of Christina L. “Christy” Chorey (Col ’07 L/M), Sierra Richardson Brown (Col ’10 L/M) and Jonathan Brown (Engr ’10 L/M). The family lives in Charlottesville.

Andrew Joyner (Col ’97 CM) and his wife, Elizabeth, welcomed a son, William Terry, on May 1, 2016. William joins brother Thomas, 2. The boys are the grandsons of William H. Joyner Jr. (Engr ’68 L/M) and the nephews of John T.R. Terry (Grad ’10, ’14) and Caitlin Morris (Col ’12 L/M). The family lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Vanessa Hurst (Engr ’08) and her husband, Nathan Hurst (Engr ’07), welcomed a son, Thomas Maverick, on April 15, 2016. The family lives in New York City, where Ms. Hurst works for Etsy and Mr. Hurst works for Teachers Pay Teachers. Ms. Hurst also recently joined the Board of Directors for Girl Develop It, a nonprofit she founded in 2010.

Moira Ballard (Com ’99 CM) and her husband, Tim, welcomed a daughter, Joelle Shani, on November 8, 2015. Joelle joins siblings Celeste, 5, Alana, 6, and Timothy II, 9. The family lives in southern Maryland.

Christopher Lynn (Col ’10 CM) and his wife, Kelly McVicar Lynn (Col ’10 L/M), welcomed their first child, a son, Brady Elliot, in October 2015. The family lives in Burke, Virginia.

Roma Kaundal (Col ’07 CM) and her husband, Siddharth Kumar, welcomed a son, Devin, on May 17, 2016. The family lives in New York City, where Ms. Kaundal works in the executive office at the Council on Foreign Relations and Mr. Kumar is a software engineer at Morgan Stanley. Devin is the nephew of Rishika Kaundal (Col ’04 L/M).

Dean Bender (Col ’04) and his wife, Kathryn, welcomed a daughter, Claire Elizabeth, on February 27, 2016.

Heather Capparra (Col ’06 CM) and her husband, Michael, welcomed a son, Grayson Thomas, on February 22, 2016. Grayson joins brother Mikey, 2.

Shane Hudson (Engr ’97 CM) and his wife, Brooke, welcomed a son, Patrick Hamilton, on May 17, 2016. Patrick joins brothers Luke, 5, and Jack, 3. The family lives in Sugar Land, Texas.

David Baldini (Com ’03 CM) and Jenny Linkous Baldini (Nurs ’03 L/M) welcomed a son, Grant David, on February 5, 2016. Grant joins brothers Jake, 6, and Kai, 2. The Baldinis live in Ashburn, Virginia.

Kristin Marshaleck (Com ’09) and her husband, Andrew Marshaleck (Com ’10), welcomed a son, Tucker Blaine, on October 25, 2015. The family lives in Moseley, Virginia.

Christina Sursa (Col ’06 CM) and her husband, Charles D. Sursa (Com ’06 L/M), welcomed a son, Cameron Jackson, on April 8, 2016. Cameron joins brother Charlie, 2, and is the grandson of Charles V. Sursa (Darden ’83 L/M) and Claudia Beebe Sursa (Nurs ’79 L/M), and the great-grandson of Waldo Beebe (Col ’48). The family lives in Falls Church, Virginia.

Daniel Goduti (Col ’05 CM) Melissa Ann Cunningham Goduti (Col ’04 L/M) and Daniel John Goduti (Col ’05 L/M) welcomed a daughter, Eleanor Ann, on April 10, 2015. Eleanor is the niece of Kevin Cunningham (Com ’00 L/M) and Stacy Fleck Cunningham (Com ’00). The family will relocate this summer from Culver, Indiana, to the Philadelphia area, where Mr. Goduti will join the faculty at The Haverford School.

Jonathan D. Terry (Col ’06 & Law ’11) and Laura K. W. Terry (Col ’06) welcomed their third daughter, Kai Avis Sephora Terry, on July 18, 2014. Kai joins big sisters, Afton (age 7) & Spring (age 6). Kai was born at the University of Virginia Hospital 15 weeks early, spending 115 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She came home on November 10, 2014. The Terrys reside at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia.

Robert Matthew “Matt” Graham (Res ’09) Matt and his wife, Ashley, of Chattanooga, TN announce the birth of their identical twin girls, Vera Elizabeth and Violet Helen, on May 17, 2014. They join big sister, Sloane Vivien, age 3.
