“Birth” Class Notes

David Vitto (Col ’05, Educ ’07 L/M) and Dawn Page Vitto (Col ’10 L/M) welcomed a daughter, Paige Christine, on Oct. 16, 2019. The family resides in the Tidewater area of Virginia.

Mary Combs (Grad ’18) and her husband, Brian, welcomed twins, Solomon William and Magnolia Eleanor, in December 2019. The twins join their 5-year-old brother, Harrison, at the family’s home in Crozet, Virginia.

Alexandra Vuxton Guest (Col ’09 L/M) and Brad Guest (Com ’10) welcomed a baby boy, Henry Henges, on Dec. 6, 2019. Henry joins big sisters Everly Cynthia and Rosemary Carolyn. The family lives in Northern Virginia where Brad is an attorney at Latham and Watkins in Washington D.C. 

Brooke Andrew Brower (Col ’00 L/M) and his wife, Kate, welcomed their third child, Theodore, on May 2, 2019. Teddy joins sister Charlotte, 6, and brother Graham, 7. The family lives in Bethesda, Maryland, where Mr. Brower is the managing editor of CNN Politics.

Monica N. Melmer (Col ’11, Med ’17 L/M) and Patrick D. Melmer (Col ’12, Med ’17 L/M) welcomed their first child, Kennedy Caroline, on Oct. 9, 2019. The family lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where the Drs. Melmer are completing residencies in emergency medicine and general surgery at Grand Strand Medical Center.

Alonya Winters-Ambrico (Col ’00 L/M) and her husband, Maurizio, welcomed their second son, Roberto, on Dec. 13, 2018. He joins big brother Samuel. The family lives in Italy.

Austin Davis (Engr ’05) and Whitney Dever Davis (Col ’05 L/M) welcomed their third son, Sawyer Brent, on June 25, 2019. He joins big brothers Hudson, 4, and Cooper, 2. Sawyer is the grandson of Martin J. Dever Jr. (Col ’73, Law ’77 L/M) and Donna Oraftik Dever (Educ ’75). The family lives in Arlington, Virginia.

Lucas Conley Hopkins (Engr ’08) and Sara Hutter Hopkins (Com ’08, ’09 L/M) welcomed their first child, William James, on Oct. 22, 2019. The family lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Jen Pitotti (Col ’06) and her husband, Drew Lawrence (Col ’04 L/M), welcomed their first child, Thomas Andrew, on Oct. 29, 2019. The family lives in Denver, where Jen is an OB-GYN with CU Rocky Mountain OB-GYN and Drew leads a sales team for Xactly Corp. 

Colleen Colby Allen (Col ’02 L/M) and Colin Allen (Col ’03 L/M) welcomed a son, Holden Emmet, on May 6, 2019. Holden is little brother to Margaret, Eleanor and Cabell, and is the grandson of Conway Allen (Com ’74 L/M), the nephew of Sherrie Colby (Educ ’06 L/M), and the cousin of Ashton Looney (Arch ’18 L/M) and Mckenzie Canard (Educ ’18). The family lives in Arlington, Virginia.

Kevin LaPorta (Engr ’09) and Jennifer Murphy LaPorta (Col ’10) welcomed a son on Oct. 17, 2019. Dylan Patrick joins his big sister Lillian, age 3. The family lives in New Jersey, where Mr. LaPorta is an associate director at KPMG and Dr. LaPorta is a primary care physician.  

Amy Shroyer Lightbourn (Col ’12 L/M) and James Lightbourn (Col ’12) welcomed their first child, Landon James, in late August. The Lightbourns moved to their home in East Norwalk, Connecticut, in March, just in time to cheer on the ’Hoos to become ACC champions. 

Kristin Clarke Marshaleck (Com ’09) and her husband, Andrew Marshaleck (Com ’10), welcomed their third child, Tenley Paige. Tenley joins her two older brothers Tucker, 4, and Tanner, 2. The family lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Andrew is a vice president in the technology group at Wells Fargo and Kristin is a manager in the financial accounting advisory services group at Ernst & Young. 

Kristen Peters Watson (Col ’07 L/M) and her husband, Tripp, welcomed a son, Robert Joseph, on Aug. 12, 2019. Robert is the grandson of Randy Peters (Col ’78, Med ’82 L/M). The family lives in Birmingham, where Kristen is an attorney with Burr & Forman.  

Katie Nelson Marsh (Col ’05) and her husband, Bradley, welcomed their second child, Nelson Linwood, on March 20, 2019. Nelson joins his big brother, Augie, and is the grandson of Karen Bingler Nelson (Educ ’80, ’18) and Stephen Nelson (Col ’78), the great-grandson of Joseph Bingler (Educ ’54, ’66), and the nephew of Rebecca Marsh (Col ’09) and Joseph Nelson (Col ’13). 

Aaron Peters (Engr ’01 L/M), his wife, Stephanie, and their son, Jude, welcomed a daughter, Avery Sarah, on Aug. 3, 2019. 

Christopher Warren Winter (Col ’07 L/M) and Megan Van Syckle Winter (Com ’09 L/M) welcomed their first child, Caroline Godsey, on Aug. 22, 2019. The family lives in Charlottesville.

Robert Edwards Griffin (Col ’02 L/M) and his wife, Claire, welcomed a second son, Thomas Murphy, on Feb. 9, 2019. Thomas joins his older brother, Gordon Charles, and is grandson of Gordon Dix Griffin Jr. (Arch ’72 L/M). The family lives in Huntsville, Alabama.

Whitney Caudill Bandemer (Col ’99) and her husband, Chris, welcomed a baby girl, Alice Maxine. The Bandemers live in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Whitney is vice president of human resources and strategic initiatives at Manchester University. 

Derek Douglas (Col ’99 L/M) and his wife, Meredith, welcomed their first child, Evelyn Nell, on Dec. 18, 2018. The family lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

Sharon Rubin Kressel (Col ’05, Med ’12 L/M) and her husband, Jason, welcomed their first son, Aaron Holtz, in March 2018.  The family lives in Atlanta, where Sharon is an OB-GYN practicing at Northside Hospital.

Steve Odabashian (Col ’91) and his wife, Maggie, welcomed their third son, Raffi Aram, on Jan. 21, 2019.  Steve is the owner and head tutor of Main Line Test Prep and Tutoring, where he helps kids (both locally and worldwide) with standardized test prep and other academic needs. He officially takes the SAT and ACT on a yearly basis and consistently scores in the 99th percentile. He has helped dozens of UVA alumni children maximize test scores.  

Kevin M. Passerini (Col ’02 L/M) and his wife, Megan, welcomed their son, Grant Michael, on Jan. 11, 2019. Grant joins big sisters Reese Mary and Maeve Alice.  The family lives in Wayne, Pennsylvania, where Kevin is a partner with Blank Rome and Megan is a senior media strategist at Health Union.

Lindsay Mott Rosti (Arch ’06) and Andrew Rosti (Col ’06) and daughters London, 5, and Harper, 3, welcomed Harrison Finn Rosti, on Sept. 19, 2018.

Tim Witthoefft (Engr ’06 L/M) and Sarah Vannoy Witthoefft (Nurs ’06 L/M) welcomed their first child and future Wahoo, Nathan Daniel, on Nov. 25, 2018. He weighed 7lb 7oz and was 21in long.

Jason Magill (Com ’99 L/M) and his wife, Jessica, welcomed their first child, Nicholas Jason, on Dec. 4, 2018. The family lives in Indianapolis, Indiana.

James Erickson (Col ’08) and his wife, Jenna Brick Erickson (Nurs ’10) welcomed their fifth child, Anna Martha, on Sept. 20, 2018. Anna joins sister, Julia Rose, age 4, and three brothers, Benjamin, age 2, Joseph, age 5, and Finley, age 7. They live in Culpeper, Virginia, where Jenna works as a labor and delivery nurse at UVA Culpeper hospital and James teaches fifth grade at Grymes Memorial School in Orange, Virginia. 

Evan Mulvihill (Col ’08, Med ’13) and his wife, Christine, welcomed their first child, Lucas Patrick, on Dec. 11, 2018. Mulvihill is a third-year pediatric rheumatology fellow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and is completing a masters in public health at the Ohio State University. Christine is a pediatric clinical pharmacist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. 

Heather Jablonski Capparra (Col ’06 L/M) and her husband, Michael, welcomed their third child, Mackenzie Grace, on Nov.1, 2018. Mackenzie joins big brothers Mikey, age 5, and Grayson, age 2. The family lives in Stafford, Virginia.

Leslie Schultz Hobbs (Col ’05 L/M) and her husband, Cabell, welcomed their third child, Christiana Virginia, on Aug. 8, 2018. She joins brother, Cabell Jr., age 5, and sister, Carrington, age 3. The family lives in Arlington, Virginia.

Jessica Burrows Heald (Col ’03) and her husband, Darrin, welcomed their second daughter, Abigail Ada, on July 28, 2018. She joins big sister, Charlotte Anna, age 4. The family lives in Mirror Lake, New Hampshire. 

Ryan P. Griswold (Engr ’02 L/M) and his wife, Caitlin, welcomed a daughter, Emma McBeth on Oct.31, 2018. The family lives in Darien, Connecticut.

Yevonne Simms Chandler (Com ’02 L/M) and Cary Chandler (Col ’01 L/M) welcomed a daughter, Evelyn Virginia, on May 19, 2018. She joins big brother Bennett, age 3, and is the niece of Peyton Chandler (Col ’01), Kristy Thomas Chandler (Col ’01) and Carter Chandler Clements (Col ’99) and the granddaughter of Wanda Rooke Chandler (Educ ’02). The Chandler family resides in Richmond, Virginia.

Katie Bray White (Col ’07, Grad ’14 L/M) and her husband, Mark White, (Batten ’16 L/M) welcomed their first son, William Charles, on Sept. 23, 2018. The family lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where Ms. White is an editor for a test development company, and Mr. White works in the nonpartisan budget office of the North Carolina General Assembly.

Carolina Ferrerosa Young (Col ’09 L/M) and Daniel T. Young (Col ’07 L/M) welcomed their first child, Rafael Daniel, on Sept. 18th, 2018. Ms. Young is a policy adviser on the future of work for Sen. Mark Warner in Washington, D.C., and Mr. Young is an assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria, Virginia. The family lives in Reston, Virginia. 

Heather Amrhein Stamper (Col ’04 L/M) and Kyle Stamper (Engr ’05, ’10 L/M) welcomed their second daughter and future ‘Hoo, Ivy Marie, on Sept. 15, 2018. She joins her big sister Elizabeth Meriwether, age 16 months, at the Stampers’ home in Charlottesville.

Ellen Riegel Bisnath (Col ’96 L/M) and her husband, David, welcomed their second daughter, Elizabeth, on December 30, 2016. She joined her sister, Catherine. The family lives Hertfordshire, UK. 

Rory Francisco (Col ’07) and his wife, Kristin, welcomed their second child, Gilbert Long, on July 15, 2018. Gilbert joins big brother Charles Theodore “Theo,” age 3. The family lives in Richmond, Virginia.

T. Henry Clarke V (Col ’07) and Adeline “Addie” McKinney Clarke (Col ’07) welcomed a son, Burwell Boykin, on July 18, 2018.  Burwell joins his brother Henry, age 2.  The family lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, where Mr. Clarke serves as director of development for Virginia Episcopal School. Burwell is the great grandson of John B. McKinney Sr. (Col ’54 L/M) and the great-nephew of Clifford P. McKinney Jr. (Col ’52 L/M) and T. Hal Clarke (Med ’25).

Frances Vey (Sorgini) Lockwood (Nurs ’08 L/M) and her husband, Jay, welcomed James Chappell on Aug.16, 2018. James, Frances and Jay are at home doing well.  

Erin Eaheart Liss (Col ’05, Educ ’06) and her husband, Casey, welcomed their daughter, Mikaela Charlotte, on Jan. 11, 2018. Mikaela joins big brother Declan, age 3. The family lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Chatón Turner (Col ’93) and her husband, Andre Smith, welcomed their third child on Jan. 7, 2018. Lucas joined his siblings, Roman, age 4, and Neema, age 7.
