Lawrence Robert Pilot (Col ’93 L/M) and Jamie Swank Pilot welcomed a daughter, Elizabeth Lynne, on Aug. 10, 2009. Elizabeth joins brothers, James, 5; and Brennan, 3. The family resides in Arlington, Va.

William M. Nachman (Col ’72) has been a reporter at the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal weekly newspaper for more than 25 years. He has recently been assigned additional duties as a copyeditor. Mr. Nachman has reported professionally for 33 years, having previously worked for weekly newspapers in Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Norfolk, Va., and for a daily newspaper in Savannah, Ga. He resides in York County, Va., with his wife and son.

Gabriel Eades (Col ’07 A/M) married Mandee Trent on June 14, 2009.

Nathan Damweber (Col ’04) will be attending UC-Berkeley School of Law in the Fall.

John Ragosta (Law ’84, Grad ’08 L/M) received the Gilder Lehrman Junior Research Fellowship for the 2010-11 academic year at the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, where he will be working on a second book. His first book, Wellspring of Liberty, was published in the Spring of 2010 by Oxford University Press.

Jennifer Regelman Getz (Col ’97 L/M) and her husband, Adam, are proud to announce the birth of their second child, Joshua Benjamin, on Nov. 2, 2009. Joshua joins sister, Rachael, 3. Ms. Getz is a project manager with IBM, where she has worked since graduation. Mr. Getz is the manager of business intelligence with Amtrak. The family resides in Burke, Va.

Ashleigh Oakes Hart (Com ’00 L/M) and her husband, Jamie, welcomed their first child, Sadie Mary Hart, on March 9, 2010. Ms. Hart is a managing director at JPMorgan. The Hart family lives in New York City.

William M. Musser IV (Col ’95 L/M) and his wife, Jennifer E. McClister (Col ’95 L/M), welcomed their first child and son, Henry Patrick Musser, on April 11, 2010.  The family resides in Golden, Colo.

Jennifer Bowen Wieland (Col ’97, Law ’02 L/M) and her husband, Jeff Wieland, welcomed Zachary Cyrus on April 7, 2010. Zach joins brother, Ben, and sister, Maggie. The family resides in Shawnee, Kan. Ms. Wieland is a litigator practicing with the firm of Berkowitz Oliver in Kansas City, Miss. Mr. Wieland is a social studies teacher at Mill Valley High School, where he was recently named the De Soto School District’s Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Jen Andrews Dudderar (Col ’99 L/M) and her husband, Jason Bailey Dudderar, welcomed their beautiful daughter, Caroline Claire, on Sept. 14, 2009.

Daniel Jacob Van Orman (Col ’03) and Sarah Bell Van Orman (Educ ’04) welcomed their first child, William Joseph, on May 7, 2010. The family resides in Portsmouth, Va.

James Phillips (Col ’82) was elected to the board of trustees of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Jackson, Miss., where he graduated in 1977 and was recognized as a distinguished alumnus in 2004. Dr. Phillips practices emergency medicine, anesthesiology and pediatric intensive care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He previously served as director of the Anesthesia Pain Clinic at the Mayo Clinic. For the past 28 years, Colonel Phillips has been in the U.S. Army with a variety of active and reserve assignments. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service as a battalion commander in the 20th Special Forces Group during their tour in Afghanistan and later served with the 1st Cavalry Division in Iraq. He just finished serving as the Mississippi State Surgeon. He is married to Alison Whitman Phillips (College ’82).

Kelly McMunigal (Col ’08) and Andrew Atkinson (Col ’08) were married in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. They met while students together in U.S. Air Force ROTC at U.Va. They are both serving as officers in the Air Force and are stationed together in Florida. Ms. Atkinson is an intelligence officer and Mr. Atkinson is a test engineer.

Peter Martin (Col ’99) married Aimee Piurek in New Haven, Conn., on Sept. 26, 2009. Mr. Martin is an attorney at the Office of International Trade, U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The couple resides in Arlington, Va.

Carrie Balsam (Col ’99) and her husband, Ethan, welcomed a daughter, Maris Bryn, on Nov. 10, 2013. Maris joins big sister Lila, age 4; the girls are the granddaughters of Carl S. Markowitz (Com ’67 L/M). The Balsams reside in Gaithersburg, Md.

Brian Doud (Col ’96 L/M) and Kelly Lander Doud (Col ’99) welcomed their third child and first son, Thomas Ford, on Dec. 25, 2009. Thomas joins sisters: Delaney, 5; and Charlotte, 2. The family resides in Clemmons, N.C.

Rob Willis (Engr ’91, ’01 L/M) is a lieutenant colonel and experimental test pilot in the U.S. Army. He relinquished command in May of the Army Aviation Flight Test Directorate, co-located in Huntsville, Ala., and Fort Rucker, Ala. In that position, he was responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of the testing of modernized Army rotary-wing, fixed-wing, and unmanned aircraft, as well as associated weapon systems. He and his wife, Tracy, and daughter, Allison, 7, will move to Paris, where Lt. Col. Willis will serve for three years at the U.S. Embassy as defense attaché and commander, International Technology Center – Atlantic/France.

Walevska Perez Herrera (Col ’95) and her husband, Carlos Martos Marlia, announce the birth of their twin daughters, Monica and Carmen, born on April 2, 2010. They join sister, Marina, 6; and brother, Manuel, 4. The family resides in Madrid, Spain.

Teresa Bryce (Col ’81 L/M) was named by Black Enterprise Magazine to its 75 Most Powerful Women in Business list. She is the president of Radian Guaranty, Inc., a national mortgage insurance company based in Philadelphia.

Jamie Billingsley (Com ’05 L/M) and Hillary Rouse Billingsley (Col ’05, Educ ’10 L/M) welcomed their second child and first son, Camden James, on March 18, 2010. Camden joins sister, Caroline Elizabeth, and is the grandson of Thomas L. Rouse (Engr ’75). The family resides in Glen Allen, Va., where Mr. Billingsley is a senior financial analyst for Dominion Resources and Ms. Billingsley is a teacher at South Anna Elementary.

Woody Vaughan (Col ’90 L/M) and his wife Sara Ann, live in Atlanta with their three daughters: Mathes 10; Sally, 8; and Ann Thomas, 6. Mr. Vaughan is a partner at the law firm of King & Spalding, where he has been practicing for the past 13 years. His practice focuses on public finance and economic development projects throughout the United States.

Seleen Street Collins (Col ’85 L/M) joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2009 as a technical writer and editor. She helps researchers publish their findings on issues concerning industrial hygiene, occupational and environmental safety, and global health. Ms. Collins recently authored reports to Congress on award-winning research at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Kimberley Schrader Beatty (Col ’88) and her husband, Ned, left their four children in San Diego, Calif., to run the Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010.

Cole Kelly (Col ’96, Educ ’98 L/M) and his wife, Kate, are the new directors of Camp Weequahic, a short session residential camp for boys and girls located in northeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Kelly is also serving as the co-chair of the giving committee for the Class of ’96 15-year reunion.

Ann Lastuvka (Engr ’08) moved to Philadelphia to start a new job as a site logistics engineer with Dow Chemical at their Croydon, Pa., facility

Louis Fierro (Col ’01 L/M) and Maura E. McEwan (Engr ’08, ’10 L/M) were married on August 8, 2009, in Charlottesville. The couple resides in Charlottesville. They are moving to Richmond, Va., this summer.

David Law (Col ’03) and Sarah Prunier Law are happy to announce the birth of their son, Nathaniel David, on Aug. 19, 2009.

Helen McKenney Ilnicky (Col ’84 L/M) and Scott Ilnicky (Arch ’83 L/M) celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in May by riding in the Five Boro Bike Ride in New York City. They started a new company, Haberdasher Corporate Apparel, in June 2009, specializing in uniforms, work threads and logo-wear.

George P. Garmany Jr. (Col ’69, Med ’73 L/M) is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He has practiced neurology in Boulder, Colo., for over thirty years and has served as president of the Colorado Society of Clinical Neurologists. He was awarded the 2009 Harold E. Williamson Award for outstanding volunteer medical service by the COPIC Medical Foundation in Colorado. The award was given in recognition of extensive service that Dr. Garmany has provided on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Can Do Multiple Sclerosis, formerly the Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis. In addition to providing pro bono care for multiple sclerosis patients, Dr. Garmany has made significant contributions to the activity of the MS Society. In the 1980s he founded the Bike MS event which now raises approximately $3 million dollars annually for programs and research funded by the Society. He has also taught residents at the University of Colorado, where he is clinical professor of neurology. In the community, he serves on the board of trustees for the Longs Peak Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Jessica Watts Hamby (Col ’02) and her husband, Mark, welcomed their daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth, on Feb. 16, 2010. The family resides in Glen Allen, Va.

Tanya Merchant (Col ’02) and her husband, James Merchant, welcomed their second child, Ethan Williams Merchant, on April 22, 2010. Ethan joins his brother, Connor Baylen Merchant, 3.

Dale William Harris (Col ’81, Engr ’82 L/M) and his wife, Zelia Martins Harris, happily announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Martins, on Feb. 18, 2010. The family resides in McLean, Va.

Lindsay Rose Hunter (Col ’97) and her husband, Kevin, welcomed their first child, Caine William, on Oct. 17, 2009. The family resides in Austin, Texas, where Ms. Hunter is an architect.

John O. Hunnicutt (Engr ’68 L/M) retired in 2005 from DIMON Inc. as vice president administration. He has spent his retirement years volunteering for Boy Scouts of America, where he served as a district chairman and council executive board member, and for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He is also a cycling coach and competes in endurance events. He has completed three Ironman events and was recently named to Team USA for the 2010 Short Course World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the 2010 Long Course Triathlon World Championships in Immenstadt, Germany.

Lindsay Hance McCullough (Arch ’97) and her husband, Stanton, welcomed their first child, Edward Smith McCullough, on Aug. 22, 2009. The family resides in Manhattan, where Ms. McCullough is an architectural designer with Polshek Partnership Architects.

Nina Griswold Fitch (Col ’97 L/M) and her husband, Justin, welcomed a son, Henry Tucker, on Jan. 21, 2009. They live in Jackson, Miss., where Ms. Fitch is the recruiting manager and event specialist for Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada, PLLC.

Allison Vick Spillman (Col ’03 L/M) and Christopher E. Spillman (Col ’03 L/M) welcomed twin sons, William Gray and Henry Bernard, on Jan. 3, 2010. William and Henry join brother, Jackson Alexander, 3. The family resides in Virginia Beach, where they own and operate Diversified Ambulance Billing.

Alli McKee (Col ’09, Com ’10 L/M) is working on her master’s degree in commerce from McIntire’s new fifth-year program. She has taken her studio art background and new business education to start a business selling her art called Allison Anderson Art. She sells paintings, prints and coaster sets of her U.Va. paintings from her website, www.allisonandersonart.com.

David W. Roehrenbeck (Col ’04) and his wife, Cybil Gregory Roehrenbeck (Col ’03 L/M), welcomed their first child and son, Galt Pickering, on Feb. 3, 2010. The family resides in McLean, Va.

Adam Cummins (Col ’94) and Katie Meredith (Com ’93 L/M) welcomed their second child, Beckett McKenna Cummins, on Oct. 12, 2009. Beckett joins brother, Dashiell. The family lives in Vienna, Virginia.
