Jeanne LaSala (Col ’97 CM)

Jeanne LaSala (Col ’97 L/M) married Andrew J. Taylor on Sept. 4, 2011, at the Basilica of Old St. Patrick in New York City. Mandy Riedel Muller (Col ’97, Law ’00 L/M), Jennifer Young Pierce (Col ’97, Med ’10 L/M) and Alexis Burns Porter (Col ’97) were all in the bridal party. Mr. Taylor is the vice president of operations for Pret A Manger US and Ms. LaSala is an actress and teaches acting at the NY Film Academy. The couple resides in New York City.
Brian Matney (Col ’87 CM)
Brian K. Matney (Col ’87 L/M) was recently elected to serve on the executive committee of the board of directors for the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals. This summer, he was also appointed by the Virginia Board of Education to serve on its advisory board on teacher education and licensure. Mr. Matney is the principal of Landstown High School and Technology Academy in Virginia Beach, where he resides with his wife, Kathryn; and two sons, Will and J.T.
Jim Balserak (Col ’86 CM)
Jim Balserak (Col ’86 L/M) is the joint assistant for mobilization and reserve affairs for Force Health Protection and Readiness in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs in the Pentagon, and was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. Dr. Balserak remains the senior partner in his multispecialty surgical practice in Tucson, Ariz.

William T. Wilson (Law ’63) was named in the 2011 issue of Virginia Super Lawyers. Mr. Wilson is a senior partner in Wilson, Updike & Nicely.

Paul B. Terpak (Col 77, Law ’80) has been named Best Lawyers’ 2012 Washington, D.C., eminent domain and condemnation law lawyer of the year.
Caroline Coronado (Col ’06 CM)
Caroline Coronado (Col ’06 L/M) married John Bodnar (Col ’02 L/M) on July 16, 2011, at the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md. The couple resides in Kensington, Md.
Linda Manger (Col ’03 CM)
Linda Williams Manger (Col ’03 L/M) and Jules Powers Manger (Col ’03 L/M) welcomed their second son, Wyatt Muir, on July 15, 2011. Wyatt joins a brother, Jules Castro, 2. The family resides in Charlottesville.

Atima Omara-Alwala (Col ’03 L/M) was elected national vice president at the Young Democrats of America’s 2011 biennial national convention in July in Louisville, Ky.
Jennifer Keith (Col ’02 CM)
Jennifer Keith (Col ’02 L/M) married Peyton McElyea at the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 30, 2011. The wedding party included Michelle Keith (Com ’05 L/M), Steven Keith (Arch ’10 L/M) and Heather Sullivan (Col ’02 L/M).
Blair Clarke (Col ’01 CM)
Blair Clarke (Col ’01 L/M) and Natalie Rude Clarke (Col ’01) welcomed a daughter, Katherine Hannabass, on June 27, 2011. The family resides in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Lauren Brown (Col ’00)
Lauren Brown (Col ’00) and Henric Persson (Com ’00 L/M) welcomed their second child, Cole Halsey, in February. Cole joins a sister, Anabelle. The family moved to a new house in July and currently resides in Old Greenwich, Conn.

Rodney Hopson (Educ ’97, Grad ’96 CM)
Rodney Hopson (Grad ’96, Educ ’97 L/M) received the Eugene P. Beard Faculty Award for Leadership in Ethics from Duquesne University, where he is a professor in its School of Education.
Andrew Parker (Engr ’95, Engr ’96 CM)
Andrew Parker (Engr ’95, ’96 L/M) and Meredith Caskey Parker (Col ’99, Law ’02 L/M) welcomed their second child, Mason Andrew, on July 21, 2011. Mason joins a sister, Olivia Catherine, 2. The family resides in Fairfax, Va. Olivia and Mason are the niece and nephew, respectively, of Aaron Parker (Col ’99), Kara Mallory Parker (Col ’99), Courtney Caskey Eliasek (Col ’96) and Ron Eliasek (Engr ’93).
Keisha Jordan (Col ’95)
Keisha Jordan (Col ’95) joined the board at the Maternity Care Coalition. Ms. Jordan has also served as the executive director of Computers for Youth-Philadelphia. She has served on the boards of six youth/education organizations, including the Black Alliance for Education Options. In 2004, Ms. Jordan was the youngest recipient in Philadelphia program history selected to receive the Eisenhower Fellowship to study education in New Zealand and Australia.

Lazetta Braxton (Com ’95)
Lazetta Rainey Braxton (Com ’95 L/M) was awarded a 2011 Financial Planning Association diversity scholarship. Ms. Braxton is founder and chief executive officer of Financial Fountains, a fee-only financial planning and registered investment advisory firm in Chicago.
Lenny Izzo (Col ’94 CM)
Lenny Izzo (Col ’94 L/M) is vice president of marketing for Thomson Reuters in its law firm division. He recently relocated to Eden Prairie, Minn., with his wife, Stacy Soffe Izzo (Col ’93, Educ ’95 L/M); and their four sons, Tristan, Tyler, Griffin and Ryder.
George Martin (Educ ’92)

George Martin (Educ ’92) is director of the Chesterfield Learning Center in Midlothian, Va. With his wife, Ilene, he has established a tutoring center for students of all ages and for all subjects.
Brian Ford (Col ’91 CM)
Brian T. Ford (Col ’91 L/M) was selected by the readers of Richmond Magazine as the best financial planner in Richmond, Va. Mr. Ford is a senior vice president and leads the Ford Group of RBC Wealth Management in Richmond.

Richelle Burnett (Engr ’85 CM)
Richelle Lyons Burnett (Engr ’85 L/M) co-founded US e-Chromic, a clean tech company. She recently moved to the Boulder, Colo., area.

Joan Hughes (Com ’77 CM)
Joan Tabourn Hughes (Com ’77 L/M) was included in the U.S. Department of the Navy’s “Tribute to African-American Leadership” permanent display, which was unveiled during a ceremony at the Pentagon July 13, 2011. The U.S. Navy recognized Ms. Hughes for her Senior Executive Service leadership as assistant auditor general for the Naval Audit Service. Her husband, Allen Hughes (Engr ’75 L/M); and son, Keith, accompanied her to the unveiling. A week later, Ms. Hughes received recognition for her 33 years of service to the U.S. Naval Audit Service and her promotion to director, Operations Directorate, Office of the Department of the Navy, Assistant for Administration at the Pentagon. Present with her at that ceremony, held at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., were her husband; son; daughter, Michelle Hughes (Col ’06); and brother, Everett Tabourn (Com ’79).
Robert Friend (Col ’73)
Robert D. Friend (Col ’73) retired as rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Richmond, Va., after 35 years as a priest. The Rev. Friend received his master’s degree in divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va., in 1976, and his doctor of ministry degree from the same institution in 1998. He and his wife, Susan, continue to live in Richmond, Va.

Kristina Allbee (Col ’09 L/M) married Daniel Bess (Col ’09 L/M) on June 17, 2011. Ms. Allbee is an emergency nurse at INOVA Alexandria Hospital and Mr. Bess is attending medical school at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda.

Sara Stromeyer (Col ’07 CM)
Sara Stromeyer (Col ’07 L/M) married Bryan Porter (Col ’07 L/M) on May 14, 2011, in Baton Rouge, La., at the home of her parents. Their wedding party included Margaret Patton (Col ’07) and Brian Yoakam (Col ’07). Ms. Stromeyer holds a master’s degree and is currently working on her doctorate in clinical child psychology at the University of Alabama. Mr. Porter recently graduated from the University of Alabama with a joint juris doctorate and master’s degree in business administration. He works for BBVA Compass. The couple resides in Birmingham, Ala.

Kelly Fleming (Col ’07 CM)
Kelly Fleming (Col ’07 L/M) married Tyler Walk (Com ’07 L/M) at the U.Va. Chapel on June 26, 2010, with their reception held at Alumni Hall. The couple currently resides in New York City, where Dr. Walk is a resident in pediatric dentistry at Columbia-NY Presbyterian Hospital and Mr. Walk is an associate at the private equity investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.

Meg Ferguson Roughen (Engr ’02 L/M) and her husband, Matt, welcomed their first child, Albert “Tripp” Hugh, on June 7, 2011. The family lives in Atlanta.

Paige Yurachek Bobick (Col ’02, Law ’07) and Shawn Bobick (GSBA ’11) welcomed their first child, Graham Warner, on Jan. 29, 2011. Graham is the grandson of John Yurachek (Grad ’69). The family resides in Crozet, Va.

Bradley Easterlin (Col ’00 CM)
Bradley Easterlin (Col ’00 L/M) relocated to St. Simons Island, Ga. Dr. Easterlin is a practicing plastic surgeon with Renue Plastic Surgery. His wife, Marie, is a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist with Lily Ob/Gyn. They have one child, Clara Elizabeth, born Jan. 24, 2009.

Joleen Searles (Col ’99 L/M) is a partner at The Andersen Firm, which specializes in tax law, business succession planning, estate planning, estate settlement and estate litigation. Ms. Searles is licensed in New York, Florida, and Tennessee.

Alison Halley (Col ’96) received a Top Women in Finance award from Finance & Commerce. She is a senior vice president at Wells Fargo and serves on the boards of the Nonprofits Assistance Fund and the Local Initiative Support Advisory Committee.

Sarah Graham Porter (Col ’98) and her husband, Scott, welcomed their first child, John “Jack” Graham, on April 2, 2011.
Drew Gaffney (Col ’88 CM)
Drew Gaffney (Col ’88 L/M) is president and chief executive officer of Parent Outdoor. Based in Boston, the company is a bricks-and-mortar retailer of fine outdoor buildings and furnishings. Mr. Gaffney and his wife, Pamela, live in Hingham, Mass.

David Granger (Grad ’81) received the Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism. He is the editor in chief of Esquire magazine.
Burton Dodd (Col ’75 CM)
Burton F. Dodd (Col ’75 L/M) was named in the Best Lawyers in America 2012. Mr. Dodd is a partner in the Atlanta office of Fisher & Phillips.

Kevin Kessler (Col ’71 L/M) retired from the practice of law in Northern Virginia in 2004 after 28 years of trial practice and now sells luxury waterfront property for Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Their practice includes custom residential, commercial buildings and professional offices with active projects across the South and Southwest. Mr. Richardson previously spent five years with Miró Rivera Architects in Austin, Texas.

Snyder (Law ’62 L/M) and Sara Lu Persinger Snyder (Educ ’60); nieces of R. Meade Snyder (Col ’93, Law ’98 L/M); and great-nieces of Nancy Jane Snyder Feuerstein (Educ ’60).
