Amanda Lucado Owens (Nurs ’01 L/M) & Gregory Ryan Owens (Col ’01 L/M) announce the birth of their son, Peyton Bass, on March 27, 2010. Peyton was welcomed home by his brother, Parker, 3. The family lives in Annapolis, Md.

Anna Levin (Col ’02 L/M) and Tal Rosen were married in Philadelphia, Pa., on November 1, 2008. Anna was ordained as a rabbi from Hebrew Union College/Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio, in June 2009 and now serves as director of Jewish life at the Newberger Hillel Center at the University of Chicago.

David I. Brown (Col ’95 L/M) and his wife, Julie, welcomed their second child, Cody Howard, on February 21, 2010. Cody joins his brother, Carter, 3. The family lives in McLean, Va.

Jennifer Newman (Grad ’02) is the owner of The Ink Editor, a company that provides proofreading and editorial services. She resides in Grand Blanc, Mi., with her husband and her three children.

Lindsey Gertz Moore (Arch ’03) is director of Admissions and Marketing for Covenant Classical Christian School in Columbia, Sc. She was formerly the director of the South Carolina Design Arts Partnership, a program of the South Carolina Arts Commission and Clemson University. From 2009-2010, Lindsey attended Columbia International University where she received her master of arts in teaching. She and her husband, David, reside in Forest Acres.

Alan Ibarra (Col ’92 A/M) and his wife Verna welcomed fraternal twins Andrew Luke and Matthew Lim, on July 19, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The boys join sister Lily Emma, 4. Alan is IT manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Southeastern Virginia Chapter, where he has worked for 6 years, and Verna is an RN.  They were married in September 2005 and reside in Virginia Beach.

David Black (Educ ’64, Educ ’67 L/M) published a collection of poetry, The Clown in the Tent (Persimmon Tree Press).

Brandi Sharp (Col ’08 L/M) was among six Ph.D. students awarded a two-year Cell and Molecular Biology Training Grant. The grant will support her research on transcriptional output pathways of the circadian clock. Ms. Sharp is earning her doctorate in biology at U.Va.

Kathryn Burgess Fletcher (Col ’02) and her husband, Gary, welcomed their second child, Wesley Michael, on June 26, 2010. Wesley joins big brother, Matthew Burgess, 2. The family lives in Midlothian, VA.

Stephanie Krebs De Falco (Col ’00 L/M) and Tony De Falco (Col ’00 L/M) welcomed their second child, Gabriella Eve, on July 19, 2010. Brie joins older brother Sammy, 1. The family lives in Durham, NC.

Meredith Hickey Barclay (Engr ’88 L/M) and husband, Albie, welcomed their third child and third son, Robert King, on July 24, 2010.  Robert joins older brothers Lain and Carter.  Meredith and family reside in Atlanta, Ga.

Margaret Poston Northup (Com ’97) and John David Northup III (Col ’96 L/M) welcomed their son, Charles Andersen “Anders,” March 9, 2010. He joins sister Ellie, 2.

Christopher B. Ferenc (Col ’05 L/M) joined the intellectual property group of the law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in Washington, D.C.

Emily Ruff Martin (Col ’99 L/M) and Eric W. Martin (Col ’98) and welcomed their first child, Eli Robert, on April 28, 2010. The family resides in Midlothian, Va.

Robert Vidaver (Col ’87) joined the faculty of the department of psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School. Rob works at Dartmouth’s New Hampshire Hospital, where he completed a fellowship in 2007.

Bert Steindorff (Col ’01, Law ’04 L/M) and his wife, Amy, welcomed their daughter, Margaret Darby, on June 26, 2010. The family resides in Birmingham, Alabama.

Whitney Spivey (Col ’05 L/M) earned a master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri in May 2010. She lives in Columbia, Mo. with her husband, Matt Dreier. They were married in January 2010.

Jennifer Christian Mallare (Nurs ’87 L/M) received Virginia licensure to teach elementary grades in June. Ms. Mallare completed a Master of Arts in teaching at Mary Baldwin College in May and teaches third grade in Roanoke City, Va.

Lisa K. Blake (Col ’85 L/M) was chosen as one of the top twenty country music program directors by Radio Ink magazine. She is station manager at WQDR 94.7 in Raleigh, Nc.

Christopher Ryan Marsh (Col ‘06 L/M) and Christina Renee Hammond (Col ‘06) were married on May 30, 2009 at Queen Anne Marina in Stevensville, Md. The couple resides in Austin, Tx, where Mr. Marsh is a paralegal at Seton Family of Hospitals and Ms. Marsh is a staff development specialist at Austin Regional Clinic. The wedding party included Stephen Spiller (Col ‘06), Martha Zink (Col ‘06), and Emily Center (Com ‘06).

Brian W. Baker (Col ’96 L/M) and his wife Kate welcomed their newborn son, Edward Kenneth, on September 4, 2009.

Barclay Kuntz Bowen (Com ’01 L/M) and Scott Bowen welcomed their first child, Chase Wilson, on November 19, 2009. The family resides in New York, Ny.

Rita M. Barksdale (Engr ’93 L/M) is general manger at GE Appliances for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in Brussels, Belgium.

Donald A. Johnston III (Col ’66 L/M) is chief judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit court in Grand Rapids, Mi., for 2010-2011.

Ian M. Toner (Arch ’99 L/M), is a LEED-accredited architect and founder of Toner Architects. He and his wife, Becky, live in Philadelphia, Pa., where Becky is a language specialist at the University of Pennsylvania. They have a 3-year-old daughter, Lily Grace.

Tara Goserud Smith (Col ’99 L/M) and her husband, Todd, welcomed their second child, Jackson Robert, on June 28, 2010. Jackson joins sister Molly, 2. The family resides in West Linn, Or.

Ashley Wallace Borders (Com ’93 L/M) and her husband, Keith Borders, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Esmé Cecily, on April 12, 2010. Esmé joins big brother Colin, 2. The family resides near Richmond, Va.

Michael Cairo (Grad ’94, ’99) is associate professor of political science at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. He leaves Georgetown College, where he was a member of the political science department for nearly ten years.

Margaret Howard (Col ’05 L/M) and Eric Hill were married on May 29, 2010, in Lynchburg, Va. Bridesmaids included Bre diGiammarino (Col ’05), Elizabeth Howard (Nurs ’11), and Julie Hudson (Com ’06). The couple resides in Charlottesville.

Sara Hester (Col ’07) has joined the Darden class of 2012 after three years at Deloitte Consulting in Washington, D.C.

Erika Harvey Nichols (Educ ’94, ’95 L/M) and her husband, Richard D. Nichols, welcomed their first child, Richard John (RJ),on October 11, 2009. The family resides in Gainesville, Va.
