Ellen Prewitt (Col ’79 L/M) lives in Memphis, Tenn., where she facilitates a writing group of men and women who live on the street. Paraclete Press recently published her first book, Making Crosses: A Creative Connection to God. The book introduces the spiritual practice of making crosses from broken and found objects. One of Ms. Prewitt’s essays is included in Sue Silverman’s instructional book, Fearless Confessions: A Writer’s Guide to Memoir, released in June.

Lara Bjorkquist (Col ’01) and Matthew Gehl (Engr ’02) were married at the U.Va. Chapel on April 19, 2008; a reception at Del Fosse Vineyards followed the ceremony. Christine Humstson (Col ’00 L/M) was a bridesmaid and Jessica Berthin (Col ’01) read a passage during the ceremony. The couple honeymooned at Qamea Resort & Spa in Fiji before returning home to Thousand Oaks, Calif. Ms. Gehl is a senior manager, study management, and Mr. Gehl is a senior associate, manufacturing, both at Amgen Inc. Ms. Gehl is pursuing an M.B.A. degree in global business at Pepperdine University; Mr. Gehl is pursuing a master’s of science degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California.

Mr. Martin works for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. Bridesmaids included Rena Wamsley (Com ’02 L/M), Jennifer Bizub (Col ’03), Heather Katebini Kim (Col ’03), Elizabeth Moyo and Sarah Johnson Scott (Col ’04, Educ ’04).

Hillary Brooke Stuhlreyer (Col ’02 L/M) and Michael Brott Mikeska (Col ’02) were married June 13, 2009, at the U.Va. Chapel. Paul A. Stuhlreyer III (GSBA ’76 L/M) is the father of the bride. Margaret Schulte (Com ’03), Matthew Mikeska (Col ‘94) and Nathan DeWitt (Col ’02) were in the wedding party. The couple moved to Richmond, Va., where Ms. Mikeska is a marketing research analyst at Altria and Mr. Mikeska is a property adjustor with Travelers Insurance.

Her aunt, LaDonna Sargent (Col ’79) sang at the wedding and Dr. Melissa B. Weimer  (Col ’01) was a bridesmaid in the wedding.

Holly Loiseau (Col ’91) is president-elect of the Women’s Bar Association of Washington, D.C. Ms. Loiseau is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Her term as president will begin in May 2010. A member of Weil Gotshal’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Product Liability practices, Ms. Loiseau has litigated cases across a variety of disciplines and has extensive experience coordinating class actions and multi-jurisdictional cases for clients in various industries and has successfully advised clients in grand jury proceedings and Congressional investigations. Ms. Loiseau has been a member of the WBA since 2003 and has served on its board of directors since 2007.  In March 2008, she led the effort for the WBA’s “Creating Pathways to Success for All” program, which focused on challenges facing women of color as part of the association’s ongoing “Initiative on Retention and Advancement of Women.” At Weil Gotshal, she is an active participant in the “Women@Weil” program, the Diversity Committee and the Black Attorney Affinity group. She is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the D.C. Minority Attorney Networking Series; she has previously held positions as an appointed member of the American Bar Association and as the deputy chief of staff to President Vanita Banks at the National Bar Association.

Mr. Jones has worked at O’Neal Steel in 1976, serving in various positions. In his current position with O’Neal, he oversees the company’s Industrial Metals Group, which includes O’Neal Steel, Leeco Steel, Metalwest, TAD Metals and Timberline Steel. Mr. Jones has also served MSCI’s board of directors since 1993 and has been vice chairman since 2000. He was named Service Center Executive of the Year for 2005.
